I'm not sure but just to be clear the 2nd gen hub can be put into the 1st gen upright/knuckle for 4x100. That is the proper way to do it. The 2nd gen upright is very bad when put into a 1st gen the camber goes nutz and you have to run shorter LCA than stock to compensate. This was the way my 78 was I ended up throwing them into the scrap bin. The 2nd hubs are the only useable part.

Thanks, Don, I'll try the hub swap your way, new bearings will be needed, I guess.

That doesn't sound like you Pete? Just swap the old bearings from left to right. They'll be as good as new.

Nah, wouldn't swap left to right, might try to re-use them though.

Why not? If they fail, it's not much effort to change them, but I always try so that we know what can be re-used at a pinch by others with less experience. I will always re-use where possible, it's greener. Let's not waste global resources by throwing serviceable parts away, just in case they may fail one day. Throw'em when they'm bost, 'n' not befoower.
Besides I'm tight where money is concerned, I'm having to be.
Remember us poor pensioners. :(

What happens when the bearings give out on the road far away from home and you have to be towed, or worse, a wheel comes off and hits some small children standing at a bus stop waiting to go to school?

Pete, please change those bearings... if not for anybody else, do it for the kids.
