I replace mine with glass aswell, but they where from a 76 civic, which came in glass . I think it looks better and clearer. I think the factory changed the material from glass to plastic for safety reasons( like in a crash? )

I tried to follow your advise. I went to a glass shop and they wanted $20 for each glass face. :(

I went to Home Depot and bought a piece of plexiglass for $3.14.
While not a perfect job (no one will be looking at the sides of the hidden face) I now have two nice looking faces. :D

Great work Bob. How did you paint the curved red/orange area and the two smaller areas of the tachometer? Did you mask that part also?

Yes, I taped it up and took my time with those little model brushes.

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement.

I picked up a glass circle cutter on line auctions. I bought a piece of glass to play with. I will see if I can get it to work.

Been playing with the circle glass cutter. Probably, not the best quality, but thought I'd give it a try. So far, out of 8 attempts, I was able to get a clean break on 1. I think, I'll invest another $2.50 for a 12" x 10" piece of glass. Lowes will cut it into 4 pieces. That'll give me 4 more shots at 1 more clean break.

BTW, I find the plexiglass a whole lot easier and safer to work with.

I'm not sure if I should go with the glass or plexiglass face. They both look nice. My thought is that with the glass it should stay looking good much longer.

After wasting 7 of 8 pieces of 5x6 inch glass, I decided to google the topic of glass circle cutting. After a quick 5 minute read, I was fully armed to get it right. One more trip to Lowes for glass and following what I learned online ... the glass cutter works and I now have nice glass faces for the tachometer & speedo. :D
