I'd swap in the 5-speed, but keep the 4-speed parts. I don't think these cars have a big difference in value between the original, numbers matching vs. a car with a swapped engine and transmission.

If they don't now, and that's is an 'if', they will one day when there are a lot less of them getting around. That's why you should always hang onto original parts if you swap them out. I thought the CVCCs had a 5 speed?

The CVCC's had all three trannys. The top of the line had the 5 speed with all the goodies. :)

Then I'd swap a 5-speed in a heart beat. It's still completely original in that case. As much as I love modified cars, there's something even more nostalgic about an original car. It's like you get transported back to another time looking at it. There's an elderly couple that drive a 60s Chrysler Valiant to the shops, and I always find myself marvelling at how original it is (it's been repainted). It's so obvious they've owned it since new.

The project continues - started the process of removing the engine. The plan is to have the engine rebuilt and swap in a 5 speed. While that fun stuff is removed, I'll be refinishing the engine bay to match the rest of the car. :)

Spent the day fighting with very old, very rusted downpipe nuts and bolts. Finally, broke through the rust and the downpipe is free of the manifold. to be continued ... :)

I'm slowly learning this is going to be a painfully slow process. :lol:

Exhaust hardware is notoriously difficult to remove. There's a high temp lube you can apply, which I'll be using on my stainless exhaust, as stainless bolts are even harder to undo it seems.
