I'm spending waaay too much time staring at my engine now...

I've ended up removing all the front brake lines, so basically only the two lines going to the rear drums will remain, with all the other to be out of stainless lines and fitting (polished by me of course!). The rear lines will just get painted the same colour as the car, and they're buried down the bottom, so you can't even see them when the engine bay is populated, unless you use a torch and make an effort (they're about 8" long and leading through the firewall).

I'm glad I've finally managed to go all OCD over this. It's been ages since I got this obsessed... I really need to promote flare-ups more often. Extra strong expresso anyone?

No, it's because I was so excited to see what it would look like, I grabbed the tape gun off the shelf next to the car, and just stuck 2 pieces on the top to stop the plate from falling. :lol:

I regretted it afterwards when I had to muck about getting all the tape-glue off! Gosh darn you cheap packaging tape... :P

I can't believe I was able to buy a 450kg engine stand on line auctions for $86 including postage!!!

Half the fun will be bolting everything on to it and taking photos, then unbolting it all so it can be dropped into the car. :)

I walked into a kragens a while ago... they were closing out the engine stands, I got the last 2 for 19.95 each. just love the deals. When I put them together they were even the models that did not need additional welding...!

Only you would clean and polish a part to send in to get chromed to look as if it doesn't need plating at all....

I was just staring at the front of the car, and I've got the urge to remove the front and rear bumper-filler panels, and remount the bumper in close. I originally wasn't keen because the bumper ends would hit the bodywork, but then I realised all I have to do is slightly reshape the ends of the bumper-ends so they follow the contours of the car. In fact, they could end up looking nice once they've been fitted properly. I also have a idea for heating the droopy one up with a heat gun until it's pretty soft, then bend it up and wait for it to cool.

I have to call the paint shop on Monday and tell them I need another week in prep-work. It took ages just to degrease the engine/gearbox and engine-bay today, like 4 hours. I didn't want to remove a filthy engine, and it's too embarrassing to let my neighbour see how tragic it looked, which he's likely to do when I borrow his engine crane (I'll need his help to get it to my place). The other thing is I know the guys at the paint shop pretty well now, and I know they wouldn't appreciate me giving them a greasy car to clean up... who would?! :lol:

I'll have to start welding tomorrow. I have a stainless radiator overflow tank to mount, and a ton of holes to fill. Did I mention the side indicators are being removed? I like the smooth lines of the Civic, but the bulging side indicators spoil the guard/fender/wing/wheel-protectie-thing. Mine doesn't have the rear reflectors on the side either, so with the indicators gone, the sides will be clear, except for the door handles and side badges. If I get nabbed for no side indicators, I can always re-install smaller ones, but it will never happen IMO. If they stopped me, it would likely be to check the car out. I have friend who started out in Traffic, and the bast@rd did the full sirens and flashing light to me once, and just pulled up next to me, wound his window down, and laughed at me. His girlfriend was one of my best friends back then, and I did find it funny, which he knew I would, and he totally got me! :lol:
