The last 2 cam seals that I put on were not factory replacements. The were just universal rubber oil plugs. I decided to order the real deal and they sent me this orange ring with a hole in the middle!! How does this fit? I put a piece of fabric in the center under the spring. Is that what your supposed to do? But the ring is too large. It is not even close to fitting in the side of the cam cover!! Help me out! Did they send me the wrong part???

I get the feeling you are talking about the plug that plugs up the hole at the flywheel end of the cam cover and you ordered a camshaft oil seal, which is the oil seal at the timing belt end of the cam, which does NOT plug up the hole at the other end . There were a couple of different designs of plug that fill the hole at the other end - an aluminium one with an o-ring around it (the better one I think) and a rubber coated steel one. Whichever you use, they never seal without a decent coat of silicone.

I prefer the RS end with the mechanical tach drive mech. It uses two o-rings.

Yeah Adrian that is what I am talking about. Well it looks like I have a new part to put on now that I know where it goes. I am just leaving my oil plug on the other side. I got it to seal up alright now. And I got my catch tank too. Thanks you guys.
