does anyone know the exact length between the back of the front seats pushed right back and the back of the car on a 1200 2 door
because i am thinking of somehow sticking a v8 (holden 308) in the back with a porsche g50 gear box
or subaru impreza motor with a vw gearbox

if you can't measure that distance yourself, then i doubt you'll be able to get a rwd civic happening.

Wrx motor with a FWD liberty gearbox would be the go. Less hassle than adaptor kits, WRX motor is lighter and more techno than the antiquated 308. Also better weight distribution and lower centre of gravity. Would be quite an interesting conversion. Unfortunately in QLD the biggest turbo engine you can fit to a car in the civic's weight class is a 1.8L or a 2.7L NA motor. Then again a well turboed B18C will destroy any standard WRX motor.
A V8 or turbo midmount civic would make for an interesting sports sedan.
Or could fit another civic engine in the back (4wD) like the twin engine golfs of the 80s or Moster Tajima's Vitara.

look into a 95 dodge intrepid 3.5L TSI conversion. 28" from axle center to the front of motor. All aluminum fuel injected v6,4spd overdrive, air conditioning and very compact. Use a 200sx datsun rear suspension (without the diff) and adapt the axles through its trailing arms and............ I have a 914 PORSCHE that i was going to try this on but i have too many projects ERROL
