Hi all. I have a set of Enkie 13x5 alloys that I want to put a great tire on. What is the max size I can get away with. I don't care about spedometer error, just handling. I want to steer clear of excess roll, and rubbing (yikes). I would also like to fill the wheel well nicely. Will be for both everyday summer driving, and autocross as well.
Thanks.

Hey Ted,
I use an 8" racing slick on my 5 inch rim. I think any street tire you find would not be that big. Probably the best tire for all around use would be a Yokahama, or BFG R1. 185/60/13 looks the best on a 1200, but that's just a personal opinion.

The last time I tried to buy a Yokohama A509 185/60/13 the tire dealer that I work with said that it was not being offered anymore! I was forced to use a Sumitomo HTR100. It seems OK, the size is as close to perfect as you will ever get for a 1st gen Civic.

Ted, use the keyword search on the left here and put in "my interior" there is a close up of my Yokohama 185/60/13 tire on a 5.5" steel rim. I think it looks way cool... but it's my car!
