Would anyone know if you can swap a 80-83 civic wagon rear axle onto a 76 cvcc wagon to get the 4/100 bolt pattern and better brakes/springs.
I measured on in a junk yard and they seem to be the same lengh (48 1/2") from bolt end to bolt end any input would help. errol

I just saw the car (stacked three high) in the yard and was able to look at the axle and it sure looked like the one in my 76 wagon. But we all know that poo poo perpetuates! and it might not work but for 50.00 i couldn't pass it up. i might just get a bigger hammer if it don't! From the angle that i had (balancing on other cars reaching under a car that has yet another stacked on top) i measured about 48" from inside backing plate bolt to the same on other end, but couldn'
t get to the other side. So we shall see.

Your bone yards sound like hell. Here in Oregon, we don't get many old honda's, but the cars we have are all jacked up on rims with walking space all around them. No stacking, and we even have one yard that is paved! So no dirt or mud.
Some of the stripping I've done required that I get significant torque, and when the part pops off, I'd be flying if I were in the sky. You guys be carefull!

My favorite thing to do at junkyards like Errol's is to climb up to the tops of the stacks.
You can then jump from stack to stack. The cars tend to sway a bit when you land but its still lots of fun. Not to mention that you can get a good look at all the cars from that vantage point without walking around the whole yard for hours.

Well down here in Memphis it might be used for population control. But it is a bummer when 'they' won't take thier 'wall' apart just so you can get at a engine. And then there's the cudzue and sticker vines....not to mention the wasps and hornets AHH...I could spend days out there.. Oh, i should have the axle today

Well, it's been raining for what seems like a month...I just pulled the wagons head off in a torrential downpour!! ('cause i don't have any room in the garage with all the parts) When it stops i'll take some pics of where these cars are. I've brought 2 foot long 'nippers' with me and a weed wacker before! I'ts just the 'wasps' don't like the noise

WEEELLLLL I finally got that axle from that yard. Everything looks the same except for the drums! They seem to be about 1/2 the size (?) or thickness rather. So i'm going to try and just swap the backing plates, and if the new backing plates/bearings/drums fit on the original spindles I won't have to swap the whole thing. (It's my daily driver and can't have it down for more that 3-5 hours)
