My car has developed a ticking noise which is coming from the left front wheel. It sounds like there is a rock in the tyre but there are no rocks. If anyone knows what it is please explain.

When does it happen? All the time or when turning?

try the split pin thing, if that isn't bent over, they slide back forth and make a bloody stupid noise. just take off the centre cap and see if the split pin moves

It makes the noise when it gets over 60Km/h and going in a straight line, and the faster I go the more noise it makes. When I go under 60k's it stops straight away. I can't figure it out, if I jack up the front and start the engine, put it in gear, and rev it up so the speedo gets to about 80Km/h(which is when the noise is the worst) it doesn't make any noise. So it is something to do, either with the bearings or driveshaft.

Sounds like bearing or axle noise.

Yup, I had a wheel come off too. (Low speed luckily)
Don't over-look the obvious (and dangerous)...

The wheel nuts are tight, I havn't got the steel wheels on it, I have 12 inch ROH mags on it and the wheel nuts go into the bolt holes so it is a bit hard for them to loosen, I just tightened them a few days ago when I pulled the wheel off.
