I have an EB3 block
and the big valve cylinder head.
I thought that the EB3 was from the 80-1 Civic 1300 so that's the car I think I ordered timing belt, water pump for - yet neither fit.
Timing belt is easily 10 teeth too long
Water pump sticks out way too much to even have a remote chance of bolting on.
Another thing, attached to my cylinder head is a distributor with no vacuum advance of any kind (this is an ex-SCCA race car), the distributor rebuild parts I was sent also do not fit - any ideas what the correct car to order them for is?
Thanks.

EB3 is 78-79 1200, uses the same timing belt as an 80-83 EN1 though. EN1 water pump also fits, but not if using an EB timing cover. Sounds like they gave you parts for completely the wrong engine.

A 80-1 Civic is a EJ block. I believe i am correct in that th EB3 was a 78-79 1200 engine.I have no idea about the distributor unless it was converted to electronic ignition. Hope this helps.
Goodluck and Godspeed,

Adrian,
Correct me if I am wrong...
The big valve cylinder head is also from the EB3 engine right? Or not? Once I know exactly what I have then I can get going on this project....
Thanks for the help.

It is.
EN (or EJ maybe for you guys in the states) head is also very similar to EB3 head as far as valves and ports go.

The way to spot the difference between EN and EB heads is that the EB head has a threaded mount on the other end to the timing belt for the torque rod. The EN had the torque rod go to a gear box mount. It won't be an EJ because that is a non-crossflow head. And since ENs were not avail in the states (only Canada) it is unlikely it is an EN head.
I would say it is the EB3 head as you presumed.

You know, I just had an idea.
Depending on available space, Richard, how about a "spotters guide"?
Perhaps moderate sized pictures and descriptions.
