I've completed the crx disc brake conversion in the front of my 78 civic. But, looking at the design of the rear drums it just dosent seem posible to redrill them to 4x100. I've considerd 4x114.3. How about it?

When using wagon uprights do you have to re-align your wheels.

How difficult was the CRX brake conversion?? Do you have any photos?

Easy as pie, I don't have a digital camera.

You can do the conversion in the front and rear. I had to read old conversations to get all the info. But, to sum it up, the parts wagon steering knuckle, 88'CRX calipers(and brackets), 88'rotors, 80'civic hubs, new bearings, and I used 88'CRX steel braided brake lines(a nice touch). Bearing seal plates have to be drilled to except a counter sunk bolt. Check later saab 900's for the blots holding the striker to the door frame. I just redrilled my rear drums becuase the rear drums are stronger than rear CRX discs. Doing the swap might get rid of the rear lockup problem civics had. Maybe, that mostly has to do with the rear end being so light. If so the swap won't help at all. If you want to know more about the rear brake swap, Do a search on crx disc brake conversion. If not, A friendly machinist will help you redrill your drums. By the way, My civic is a 78' and its name is Brownie. My advise to anyone doing the conversion is to just jump into it. It is a simple conversion and it will work out I promise.

Hey Daniel,
That's a great attitude! There are many of us that could learn from you.

I forget to mention the 80'civic CV axels. The outboard driveflanges are different.

I see it clearly now after looking at a crx. You have to countersink the seals on the outside of the wheel bearing so the bolts will mount flush, and not interfere with the hubs and roto's, right? Aren't there a few varities of calipers you can use? How do theese compare w/ each other?

I had a 87 crx that i did the 'complete' integra brake swap. So what i really wanted to know was if i could use the 84-87 crx stuff then i would be able to use the integra brakes which were much larger than the 87 crx.
I also did a wagon swap on my 79 cvcc and then used 86 prelude rear discs and struts. The only problem facing me now is the lower control arms need to be lengthened to get the right wheel stance. so now i have to look for a early accord set of lowers. They look longer than the preludes.

is there a bolt on vented brake set up that fits inside a 13in rim that retains the 120 pcd pattern?
