I am in the process of building a head adapter for the Honda 1200 to use on my flowbench. Since it can be made with two bore sizes, I might as well make the other side fit the 16/1800 engines
Are the head bolts spaced the same as the 1200 gasket? Just thought someone may know, If not then I will go buy a head gasket.
Thanks, Don

The 16/1800 engine I was inquiring about is the "B" series 81mm bore engines.
thanks again, Don

The 1600/1800 headbolts are the same as the ER1200, it only goes to follow that these should be the same again with the EB1200. However this is Honda we are talking about and when you think you've got it in the bag there is always a curly one thrown at you. I will check tonight, should save the price of a head gasket!

Don, when you say "B" series are you talking b16a, b18a, b18b, and b18c? I think Charles is refering to the old (70's, and 80's) Accord and Prelude engines, while you are refering to the Civic SiR and Integra engines. Just want to make sure everyone is talking about the same thing...

B16-B18 is correct.
I have heard that they are all the same pattern as Charles says. I'm sure he knew what motors I was taking about, all the 70s-80s Accord and Prelude motors I knew of are EK or EF for the Usa.
Anyway thanks for the insight, Tim
Any Word Charles?

Does any one know for sure?

Tim is right, I completely missed your second post somehow. Obviously the B series heads are the same bolt pattern (same part no in some cases). But all the old, EL, EK, EN, EJ, EB, ER seem to have very similar if not the same headbolt pattern, thing like oil drain backs and water jackets are obviously different.

Sorry if i got your hopes up Don.

And because that post was as clear as mud, my answer is I don't know for sure but I very much doubt they are the same. All the twin cam heads are so wide and they seem to have their bolts fairly closish to the corners, the B blocks are much wider than the E blocks, even the D blocks are wider than the E blocks. I think you would need separate E, D and B (as well as H and F) adaptor plates for your bench.

Looks like I will head out and pick myself up a "B" head gasket.
Thanks for the help.
