He He Tod Thats kinda cool...a 1200 Testerosa!! Hey why be "normal" great job man. Never seen one black that looks so sweet. Are those Lude rims or aftermatket? 13's? I like the mono colour scheme you did with them.

VERY SWEET

Thanks Guys!
The rims are 13" Enkeis. I paid an arm and a leg for them. Too bad we can't all find deals like some people. I'm not going to mention any names but his initials are QUICKRICK.
I did the body work, but I can't claim credit for the paint, my brother in law did that.
I put the mirrors up there so I could see rearward while I had my arm hanging out the window. It works fine, too bad you can't see squat out of the passenger side. Doh!

any tips for body work? i bogged my whole bloody roof (rolled) and while it didn't look too bad (right shape? i guess) i'm definately no expert.

what sanding equipment do you use? and about applying body filler?

Hey, those side markers look awfully Chrysler to me...did you pick 'em off an old 60's Mopar product? I was looking for some of the round ones for some time, but decided on some aftermarket clear Audi A4 side markers.

Good eye Brian. All Chrysler cars in 1968 had those markers.

What Todd is reffering to is the fact that I got a good deal on some identical rims.
I was out on a cold drizzly Saturday morning, I went into a junkyard and asked if they had any old Honda's, the guy said that they had a fresh '80 Civic... not what I was looking for but, what the heck, I went in to take a look. It turned out to be a 80 Accord (120 x 4 bolt pattern), LO and Behold it was there sitting on a full set of 13 x 5.5 Enkies! They pulled them for me and wanted $125.00 but I cryed and moaned till they brought them down to $100.00. Not in the best shape but totaly refinishable. NEVER GIVE UP LOOKING FOR GOLD!!

i second that

I just got a rebuilt eb3 for $100 CDN. It has a new rings, new bearings, new head gasket, new carb., new fuel pump, new alternator, new water pump NEW NEW NEW... AND...there's a 5-speed tranny included. THe seller was swapping a v-tec. so it's a win/win situation.

Todd, I also have good eyes. Those center caps with the Honda "H" logo... are they off a mid 80s Civic. Do they pop right on?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Todd (63.52.20.19) on Monday, March 12, 2001 - 12:55 pm:

No Rick they don't. They're not quite big enough, so I wrapped them with some electrical tape and wedged them in. They're so tight I can't even get them out.
As for body work, get a 12" sanding board and work in a criss cross motion by hand. Put up the air tools. Never apply bondo (or Bog) thicker than 1/4 inch if you can help it. If, after you're done, it ain't right, do it again. I'll bet it took me 6 tries to get my door as straight as I wanted it. Then again, I had to do it that way. Black shows everything.

thanks.. got the 12" thinga... i got a good restoration project coming up... just bought a 75 with new 2pak blue paint... just been slapped on a reasonably straight body (lots of small dents) to keep rta away from it. then the motor blew up aparently... $180 for a non crashed honda with crazy looking 'temp' paint ($450 worth aparently) and a good top half of an eb1 motor (which is exactly what i need!)

just gotta get it back from adelaide now (4.5 hours away).

Todd, that's a beautiful car there. I'm printing it out now so I have something to look towards when the my body work gets started. Did you have to pull any body parts off to do the hammering, or did you do it as is?

Hey, my printout shows you much better in the reflection than the photo above! Your much shorter than I thought LOL. What tires are those Todd?

any more pics you can post? I need all the inspiration and perspiration I can get.

I try to get the metal as straight as possible before Bondo. I removed only the fenders, hood and hatch. I can do body work fairly well, but I have never been able to get doors to line up after being off. The tires are Yokahama A008Gs 175/50-13. They stick like crazy, but I prefer a 185/60-13 for looks. They fill up the wheel well better.
Here's one more of the best front end Honda offered (IMHO)

Hey Todd, would a 185/70 13 be too big for the well? I know that it will throw off the speedo some (by approx two inches rolling radius) My local tire shop has them at 164.00 installed. They are pretty sticky, a 40K tread wear, no stipping, and in my kind of price range.

Also, how did you get the bumper to sit close in? Did you cut the rubber shock down and all?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Todd (63.52.3.73) on Wednesday, March 14, 2001 - 10:09 am:

Personally I think the 70s are too tall. Try Sumitomo. They make a good tire and are relatively cheap. The front bumper is all stock. I did cut the rubber in the rear though. The body is actually a 79 (Shhhh don't tell anybody). I swapped everything off my 74 onto the 79 (including the front end). I have before during and after photos if anyone is interested. I don't want to take up too much storage space.
