Does anyone know the part number of the rubber bits that go on the '78-'79 style door strikers. I plan to order them from hondaautomotiveparts.com, but I can't find them in the illustration. Thanks, all. -Tony T.-

Both of the pieces cost less than $5. I am about to order them. Now the question at hand is how to adjust the passenger side door.... anyone know anything about this?? Thanks, _Tony T._

I put the bits in it helped a little, but they still rattle. Those things weren't half as hard to put in as you guys said. Is there a peice that goes on the actual striker in the doorframe or is it just the bit in the lock? Could bad weatherstripping cause rattles?
Thanks, Tony T.

No rubber piece in the doorframe.
Anything is possible, the problem is, we're not there to see it. This is just going to take some close observation on your part. Does the door move at all when it's fully latched? If it does, is the striker worn? Does the latch really fully close and latch? Where does the sound seem to be coming from? My drivers door rattled once because the welds for the safety bar broke off.
Tap on the door. Does it make the rattle? Or does it only do it on the road? Does it stop when you push on it? Could it be the window in the frame? The bottom half of the tracks? Could it just be something lying in the bottom? What about the bar from the door handle to the latch? The window regulator?
The possible causes are many. We can't say "oh, all door rattles are caused by....". You, and your ears, plus some time are the best tools for figuring out this problem. If you think something is missing, ask. We can usually picture the assembly in our minds and recall anything that might be missing from a description you've given. But "Is this my rattle?" I don't know, I've never heard your car.

Thanks, Charles.
I can push the door in a bit when its closed. And I have moved the striker all the way in so it can't be that. The striker may well be worn, there is a small groove in it. When I look bach at the door from inside the cas, I can see daylight. I believe this is because o' my bad weatherstrip. I can be driving at speed and look up to the top o' the window track and SEE it moving, I think this is on the account o' the bad strip too. I will be replacing the regulator assy. in it this week, so that will be right. Anyway I think I can figger it out from here. Thanks for the help, Tony T.

Yeah, I know about the window frame at the top. My white car has no weather stripping, and every once in a while I have to bend that out a little to stop it from rattling.
Good hunting, rattles tick me off big time. So I feel for you man. All it takes is time and effort to track them all down though.
