my 1200 4 spd stickshift is really loose, the gears are easy to find, but once in the gear , the stick can move at least 4 inches left to right, i am not mechanically inclined so can i hope to fix this? (cheap)

The spring pin that holds the shift rod onto the gearbox selector rod is worn. Knock it out with a punch and put in a new one.
