"How about a bullet proof engine torque rod, I can custom make these soon! "

This would be paticually nice for people doing an engine swap.. I would be in for one... Well I guess that might be on how steap they would run. But deffinatly would be a hit with many, with different size needs.

They are good for Competition use but may transmit too much vibration for street use. If I can do them a few at a time I can cut down on the cost big time. The body is T-6 aluminum and the rod ends and nuts are stainless/nylon.I still have to sleeve and narrow the one rod end to fit the bolt in the fire wall. I was trying to build the longest lasting, most durable rod for my self, then I thought other people may like them. If I can do about 4 at a time within an inch or two of each other the price would be about $125

For street use I can take a new stock torque rod and cut the big end off and weld on a new end that can take the new nylon bushing. This will leave the rubber bushing in the small end to soak up most the vibration, it seams to last longer than the big end, but will not look as cool as the T-6 piece. This would run about $85 if I could do them in 4 or more at one time.

Oh wow!
That's Tom Clayton's old car. Did you get it from the kid who bought it from him?

It'll be cool to see it out on the track again. It's looking great, you'll should have a blast with it. Did you know Tom used to run some of the enduros by himself in that thing? I believe he did fairly well. I just read resently(on a VW page,I think), that he was wondering what happened to the car. I'll see if I can fill him in.

Tom told me about the car a few days after the owner contacted him. It is really thrashed, the previous owner just drove the car into the ground and tried to put a 1500 in it. I hope to have the car at a few events before the year is up. :)

I remember that. He(the kid) even told me about it beforehand. He figured the displacement would be enough to make it better than the 1200. I told him I didn't think that was the way to go.

Oh well, It looks like it's in good hands now.

Want some spares? Email a wish list. :)

The previous owners name is Adrian, super nice guy but he may not have the time to take care of a race car or the ability. You would not belive some of the things I found while taking the car apart, some just flat out dangerous.

Don, I peeked into your garage last week to see how the car is. I'm sure your neighbors thought I was a robber the way I show up and start loading up my car with those parts LOL. You stripped that thing down all the way!

I must say that your work style is very clean. I saw no dirt, oil, mess, parts laying around or anything. Simply amazing.

I have my first autocross with my civic this weekend at the Monaco parking lot in Coburg Oregon. http://www.eescc.org/

Was the money under the rear carpet? Hope you got it. The seat is great. Will make an excellent home for my ass during the hard turns. I have yet to fix up that fiberglass one.

Again, thanks for the parts Don.

Hey Ted, I Got the $, Glad you like the seat, one less thing to fill up my "locker".
That poor old parts car was stuffed more than that the week before. I had to make a run to the dump to rid of some bondo body part that where taking up space. Now with the seat and mounts out of there I can store some more parts in there until next month when It gets torn apart too. :)

You could just toss all your parts in the back yard, behind the parts car, and throw a tarp over them.

Boy, the neighbors would hate me for that one!!
I have a better idea, part this one out and use allot of parts on my car an toss, sell, trade, give what I cant use or store away and then go get another one and use that for a "locker" until I need more parts. I need one whole body just incase I get hit or eat a tire wall. With a race car its not if this will happen its when.

Ouch, my wallet just went into hiding. Real racing sure is intense. You want to go fast and win, but you weigh all the time and money, emotion and need for speed with every hard turn or pass.

:) Its not that bad!! If the worst happens its a body and cage. The real money is in all the parts, you can save them most of the time. You told me you used to be a corner worker at Sear's so you have a good idea what club racing is like. After reading our posts some people may think club racing is a smash up derby, not true at all. Most people take pride in their cars, but some times things or the occasional hot head happens. I was helping my friend Thom at PIR this weekend at an open track. One guy thought he could drive in the rain like he did on a dry track, after ignoring a warning he stuffed his 93 mustang into a wall so hard the engine is in the fire wall. Lucky no one else was touched.
