I was wondering if anyone has ever thought of or done this, putting a nitrous system on a 1200
i'm not to sure how nitrous works but could you like build a spacer plate that went between the carb and the manifold and plumb the nitrous line into that so the fuel/air mixture mixes with the nitrous before heading to the cylinders ?

hey jon: check the thread "Fast Fours and Rotaries..." One of the civics in that article has a nitrous system installed. The article doesn't go into it much, but with a little work you might be able to get ahold of the owner of the car and pick his brain. Good luck.

A basic NOS kit includes the parts to do everything you need. You get a single fogger (jet) that houses both a NOS line and a petrol line. Your tuning stays the same for the carb and when you hit the NOS it squirts in the required extra fuel along with the NOS. You have to jet it to suit.

You can tap the single fogger into your plenium just under the carb or if you fit a comprehensive 4 fogger (one fogger per cylinder you tap it into the intake runners).

There are a lot of people who ridicule NOS as not "REAL" hp but whatever your opinion of the stuff it does work. I am not a great fan, I prefer engines that will repeatedly produce the same hp under all conditions and duress without worrying if the NOS is going to run out etc. It is a bit of fun though and your engine will take it as long as it is in good condition. Set up jetting on a dyno if you can or at least use a mobile wide range O2 sensor if you can.

You must have at least 10psi fuel pressure and the fuel pressure must rise as the Rev's do as Jason had a small hole develop in one of His Mugen Pistons due to inadequte fuel pressure,Alot of other stuff was put in with it as saftey precautios but I have been in the car,it is a very gradual step in power, like the engine's capacity is growing as the rev's rise, very smooth and strong. He can be contacted at Batallion Motor's 61 2 62806022 or fax 61 2 62806093 .those are the international codes from USA to Aus,if calling from in Aus drop the 61 and put a 0 infront of the 2.Hope this helps.

It all depends on what kit you use, also every motor is different. On a basic standard kit like we use, if it is fitted correctly and jetted correctly all you should need is 6psi of fuel pressure. On turbo engines you need a rising rate fuel pressure regulator, ie 6psi until boost then rises 1psi fuel pressure for every psi of boost. And in this car it gives you a whallop in the back (only a 50hp kit). It can give instantaneous and damaging (cvs don't like it)power surges if hit on boost. Remember a standard civic engine delivers 50hp, suddenly when a 50shot NOS hit is given it is like doubling it. The turbo 1200 is already producing 180hp so the NOS pushes it over the 200 mark. A lot of go in a 700kg car.

Does this jason guy have the internet or e-mail... If so, someone really should point him twards this message board... seems he has already done some inspiring without even knowing it....

Personally I was a fan of the "bumble Bee" article... he went almost the exact rout I plan to go...

I added NOS to my wagon(using the single fogger ZEX kit with a 55shot)it's a little different in my situation(fuel-injected)but damn is it a quick HP increase!!I just picked up a 78 hatch with a auto for a friend of mine..he might be swapping the motor , and if so i'm gonna run NOS into it and see what we can do(see if it will handle a 80shot!)i'll let u guys know when the piston goes thru thru the block!!..

Put a tape recorder in the engine bay. That's going to sound sick. :)
