Although the motor is not in it at the moment a 1200 civic motor and tranny fits in the back and powers this thing around the guy hasn't driven it yet but should be cool. The axle is chain driven by a CV axle in the tranny with the end cut off and a chain sprocket placed on the end of it the other CV axle hole has a CV axle shoved in and then bolted to the fram so the differential only drives the side with chain. It uses a 5 speed accord tranny to take advantage of the hydraulic clutch.

see the honda shifter in the last one
i like this idea. it has full body panels that cover the outside and it looks like a little race car when it's done. The only thing i dont like is that they used a dodge colt steer rack with shortend tie rods for the steering, why couldnt they make it all honda ahh well thats eaisly changed(i think)

Hehe yeah that is a good idea.. me and a few friends have thrown around the Idea of a Go-Kart with a newer DOHC VTEC engine in it... that would be crazy... this little guy seems good though.. still capable of being controlable...

I guess that you must really be able to see beyond the here and now.
You could have at least cut the grass & pulled the weeds before the photo shoot!

It's not my house, just some guy i met and he showed me the kart so I have no contol over the weeds and things (even though my backyard dont look much better right now either:)

yes that is a 510 in backround it is one of about 4 he had there (he's a 510 freak )

I dont know if you guys can see it but in the first picture to the right of the 510 is a trunk from a trunk model civic with 5 speed logos on it

arm, wouldn't that be extremely geared up? like it would be x2 as soon as you only used one driveshaft... then you got the accord box... and with 50hp i wouldn't like to know the top speed..
though the wheels are small, so are the hondas... anyone?

You have a good point.. but then again it is a lot lighter than even a first gen... so needs less "grunt" to get going... plus most pro go-karts are more intended on pretty fast overall speed... so sounds like an ok set up for a home made unit. I would still be first in line to give it a spin! :)

oh no, don't get me wrong... i'm not saying you'd lack acceleration - i was just worried at how fast you could go, and how potentially dangerous the machine would be! imagine a 100kg civic! mine weighs over 700kg and thas fast enough!!

It'll have a hydraulic brake setup on the rear axle sorta like a sprint car has
