Hey, I'd like to get a list of all the 1st gen civic guys in Vancouver BC. It'd be nice to get a comprehensive list together here, maybe in the future we can all meet. Anyways, please post where you are in the lower mainland. So Justin March, Dave Jackson, Richard Nasr, Brett Kaachele, Puff, Glu... I know you guys are somewhere around here, but where???
Thanks,
Austen Bach

Hi,
I have a 78 Civic 1200 sedan and am in Burnaby.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Hey,
I live in Pitt Meadows and I know that Richard lives in Maple Ridge. Oh yeah so someone thought it would be a funny joke to role my car over on its side when it was parked on the street so now I'm doing a bunch of body work on the one side. Do any of you guys in the lower mainland know of anyone who is looking for a civic to buy??? Pick a Part out in Chilliwack has some deluxe gauges on a blue 79 it's in really good shape. Just ripped a bunch of chrome off it today and some perfect door seals!!! My phone number is 465-9159 by the way.
later,
Dave

So whens the first Vancouver meet???
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
I just bought a 77 Civic 1200, Needs lots of work before I can get it on the road, but it has a rag top! So I want it on the road before the summer is over. It is parked in Burnaby I live in New West.

Nice to finally hear from you guys! Ya so when DO we want a vancouver meet? That'd be great. By the way, Justin, those mags I got off you, I found some sweet new 175/70r12's for them, the fattest r12's you can get and probably the last ones left in BC. Oh, and does anyone know how to get at the antenna wires? I suppose its easy enough. I wanna put the antenna at the centre of the back of the hood (like newer vw's have) and I'm STILL looking hopelessly for a REAR spoiler. And does anybody have any clues if the older plastic vw fender flares would somehow fit on my civic? Just curious...
Thanks,
Austen

Hey Farfignugen!
Forget about the stock antena wire. Just put in the VW roof mount (model# EA80 from Harada) and get a coax extension. You could run it down the rear or down the widow post. Haven't put one in a first gen yet. They are a powered (amplified) antena and work AWSOME! Especially since you get a far better ground plane in the middle of a flatter sheet of metal. I can get them for about $50.00cdn. Take care.

Mad Mel,
Sounds awesome! So where can I get one? From you perhaps?!? Or you could just tell me where to find one (I suppose vw dealers or wreckers would have it). I'd be willing to spend $50 for a sweet antenna. Ya that was what I was thinking too, just get a coax extension, hell it'd improve the reception too.
Puff, great idea about pizza! I'll have to see when I can pop in.
It seems we've got around a dozen of us civics in the area. COOL! and I've seen a couple others...

Hey dudes. Farfromegroovin...lol just kidding...Give me a couple days to confirm the price for you but I can order them new for 50ish. The plug in extension is about 12.00 I have my own car audio shop here. I am in Canmore so if you guys have a meet in late summer or fall I would come over for it.

Hey Farfignogen...still haven't gotten ahold of my supplier yet. You can probably find the Harada EA80 at any reputable car audio shop in Van but if not I can still get one. Remember to order a long extension. Don't try to slice modern coax the center conductor is like a strand of hair. Also the power wire for the signal amp should run off acc power not your blue amp trigger output. Or if you really want it right use a relay triggered by the blue wire fed by acc power! Any questions drop me a line.

My buddy and I own a '78 and a '79 1200 HBs. We rally race the '78 =) We are currently between races doing some modifications - spring swap (anybody got wagon front springs or spare struts?), carb & steering rack work and maybe a brake upgrade and 4X100 conversion in the front if we can find the parts. Let me know if anyone has parts / ideas. We live in Port Coquitlam and love our 1st Gen Civics!

Hey Aaron! At Pud's Autowrecker in Oossoyos B.C. they have a complete 1979 Wagon for sale. I was going to grab it for parts but can't now because I am moving to Alberta.I think he said $250 takes it.With the wagon you get everything you need to do what you want except the 4x100 conversion. The wagon has 1.5L,4spd and 13inch wheels.Good Luck.

hey!!
add me on your list too!
i have a '78 sedan .. about to be receiving an EN1 motor, due to the 2 inch hole that decided to 'occur' just below the oil filter of the 1200 .. last tuesday was definitely slick ..
so, we're moving up to a (gasp) 1300!!
and as a result, i will be having a parts car remaining .. any one need anything from an '83 civic??
there is a GN 5 speed which needs a bit of work, but will bolt nicely to the 1200 ...
and ther bits of course ..
ciao for now
mo

Oi guys!!
I'm out of Coquitlam. I'd like to be on the list...I don't have enough for my 78 civic yet. But I'm saving up for one and all the specials!!(87 CRX engine swap, Fibreglass hood w/ flared fibreglass quarter pannels, navy blue paint job, 2 10" sub's, racing seats with the drivers side having a racing buckle, etc) I'm prolley gonna spend a total of $4000 at least...oh well...it should last me forever. I'm a young guy (17) so I;m learning all this new stuff and will forsure have my completed civic within the next 2 years.

Hey hey, I just bought my 2nd 1978 civic, I was side swiped in the first one and had to get another. I'll be putting in an '86 prelude engine, and adding things to the engine and body here and there.
Give me until a little after Christmas and I'd LOVE to get together with fellow 1st gen civic owners, he he.
My name's Dave by the way and I live in New West.
