Ok guys I am sure I'm not the first to think of it...

A First Gen Civic club.... Yeah we kinda already have a little one going here... but why not make it official. Everyone else seems to have a club for all other kinds of cars.. why not us? getting people involved... we could "advertise" our cars more and as a result end up bringing more First gen owners into the group... I am positive there are more owners on the web with gobs of usefull information to share with everyone and viseversa. Possibly arrange a few major meats in a couple (few?) different locations. I would be willing to set up a "official club site" if Adrian did not want to change up his site.. Get a domain name etc... but still link to this board.. since it is what brought us all here... I don't think many would want to change that... except maybe to all chip in a little to get rid of the pop ups... But anyway... what do you all think? Wanna get this rolling? I am more than willing to do at least my fair share of work involved.

Official in what way? For some reason very few on-line clubs actually work.
I'd consider hosting a site (without those bloody pop up ads) and maybe supplying a domain name (I do run a web hosting company after all :)), if someone else will do the work to build it. I won't host this message board though or provide email boxes unless someone pays for it/them (data ain't cheap and this board and especially email can generate a lot!)
If you could get people to pay some kind of membership fee, then yeah sure ... but I can't see it happening. What will people get for their money? How will they pay without copping huge bank fees for international payments?

There is no way I'm turning "my" site into a civic club site, mainly because it isn't mine! It belongs to the Honda Car Club of NSW ... a real car club.

Half the people on this board have wanted to put together a faq of some sort but nobody seems to be able to get around to it (me included ... no time).

If you can come up with a good workable plan (trust me, it'll be a lot more work than you think) then I guess we could all consider it ...

I made my own website with www.geocities.com

I was very easy with no prior experience. It's a snap to upload pictures, text, whatever. Also I use yahoo a lot. I have my own yahoo family photo album which can also be used for civics. I think my website is pretty cool. During the winter I'm always looking for a project. Maybe I'll start a page then...or sooner. I think what we really need from a site is to know who is where. I don't know how to add a discussion board though.

Check out my web page and my civic to see what geocities and Yahoo Pagebuilder can do. Also, geocities is free.

Wow thanks guys!

I made the web site to keep in touch with my parents/inlaws while the military moves us around.

I say that we disign an internationally shared car sticker. have i already suggested this? anyway... just something simple that represents us, looks good and includes the website!

if i get time i'll make something.

I'm also thinking that in the grey square under the "HONDA" can be a black and white version of the model emblem... "Civic", "Accord", "Prelude", "N600" etc. I dunno, what do you folks have to say? Give me some input and I'll tweak on this design until we all come up with something most of us like.

Looks nice... maybe offered in a couple different colors. :) I am glad I kinda started something. This is more of was talking about, something simple to "unite" us all.

no offence intended here, but i was thinking something that looked less like a RACV membership sticker from the 70's and something more up to date with US, and the cars.
my opinion could have something to do with the fact that i am 18...
but because the diversity of ages amongst us board users, i think that there would be no problem in having more than one logo/sticker. i'll design what i would like to see on my car and let yas know.

once again, i dont mean any offence, i'm not saying its not good... just it doesn't suit me.

Nice try

BUT......

that is a second generation "H" .

If you are going to do it, use the first generation "H" which has more of a slant.

a first generation wheel center cap is a good example. I will find a pic for ya. OR one of the wheels on this page is good:

Yeah, I pulled that image off the Honda website. it was a teensy 16x16 gif, so I had to do a little work to get it to look that good. If anyone can get me a scan of an early style "H" logo, feel free to put it up here and I will make the neccessary changes.

I'm going to work on a couple of other styles too. I figure if I can get enough support for these once I get a couple of good designs, I'll get some stickers made up and get them out to all of you guys.

The 2nd design looks OK but the word classic and the H (very similar to the hood badge on the S type cars of the 60's ) are interesting choices. In South Australia a classic car is a car over 30 years old .At present this doesn't fit any civics perhaps deleting the word classic might fit the era of the civic better.Don't get me wrong the sticker idea is good but which car would i put it on my S car or my Civic.

At the same time in America it is 25 years. But your right. So maybe a word to still point out that they are not the run of the mill 90's civic's would be best. I'll work on an idea also.

Guys, nice work! I love your ideas! As just a little constructive critisicm, I do alot of graphic design, and it kinda looks to me as we're gonna come off as amatures with these logos. As soon as I figure out how to post picks I'll put up my version, I think you'll like it.

Novice, amature, beginners, inexperienced, rookies... ALL of the above! I think most of us would agree that the important thing is the accuracy of the original first gen "H" logo and the "HONDA" stile lettering. That's real important.

oval

I personally like this one better than the first one I made.

Anyone have an Accord or Prelude logo they would like to share? I'd like to make versions for all three first generation cars as well as one for the N-series cars for those guys who have one.

Here's a second version of the oval one, but I'm not sure which one I like better.

I would be quite interested in something like this, HOWEVER... I don't have a Civic, I've got an Accord, if we could have one available that is just for the First Generation Honda Club, but not have it specific for Civic... just my $0.02 worth.

I like the wider flaring old H.
