Ok guys,

Has anyone done any really nice things to their Civics interior. I am planning a total custom deal. Gonna cover up all the painted parts.

Anyone know of any good info sites on the subject?

Anyway, i'll post some pics when, my civic is complete :)

I have a mazda series 6 RX7 instrument cluster, and a pair of nissan 300ZX seats (drivers seat is electric), which I'm going to put in my 1200. The skeleton of the city turbo dash which I got from my halfcut is going to be used, and it will be fiber glassed. The door panels will be moulded to merge with the dash. Plus a full custom audio installation.

Hey Paul,
I just had our upholstry guy do my '77 CVCC like you're talking about. Check these out:
interior-a
interior-b

The sides look like grey leather. The headliner is a cloth, and it sounds like it was a little difficult, something I would definately leave for the pros. I'm floored at how good it looks though. I knew it wouldn't look bad, but it changes the feel of the whole inside.

I'm restoring all the stock panels to put back in. The dash has already been done with brushed aluminum replacing the woodgrain sticker. I'll probably have my '84 Corvette seats redone for this car too. BTW, anyone near San Fran have a hatchback back seat they are willing to donate? Trade? While I'm begging here, how about a hatch?

I also have one of the overhead consoles. I have replaced the stock clock with a digital unit from a later Civic. I might replace that with a radar detector though, since I have a clock in my stereo. I could do a brushed aluminum panel for this piece also.

Later, I'd like to do the white faced "indiglo" guages I've seen on the board. I should also talk to Adrian about some enclosures for some speakers. I'd like to have a modern version of the high end system these cars had (those enclosures at the top of the hatch).

Add the 4x100 conversion. Plus the 15" rims, stereo and 1800 from my wagon and I've got the makings of a smooth daily driver.

Charles, What did he charge you to do the vinyl overlay?

Hey Charles R.
I have a rear seat from a hatch that you can have!
The problem is I'm in Central Point. If your up this way or know of someone that is coming down,
let me know, as this the parts car will soon be sacrificed to the Civic gods for the greater good.
(dismantled and the parts either used on my car, or others and what left will be scrap) :)

Hey Charles, how much did the interior cost you to get done? In US currency I presume?? I am in New Zealand.

Looks really good by the way, your plans sound very simalar to what I am going to do.

Hey John and Paul,
The guy I had do this is someone who does a lot of VW interior stuff for our shop. With that in mind, and the fact that work is really slow for him right now, He gave a quite a deal. He's charging me $200.00(50/50 for headliner/overlay) labor plus material. It'll be about $250.00 all total. If you can see in the top picture, part of the door is done as well. He'll be doing the bottom part later, once I decide if there will be speakers down there or not. The metal areas of the hatch will be included too, once I get a good donor.

And Ed, uuhh, no. How about a nice EB1 longblock instead? ;)

Hey Don, email me your number. I'll be coming up there to store some of my crap soon. In Valley speak, "we'll do lunch".

I shot all the metal surfaces in my current driver with semigloss charcoal, and that made a big difference too, a lot of work sanding and masking thought.

Tell me about it.
If you notice in the pics, the roof and the strut tower are black. We removed all the sound deadening and painted the whole inside (except the doors) semi-gloss black when we were going to race this car. It really gasses you if you tape the windows so you don't overspray on the exterior, too. :) Now,(sigh)I get to put it all back in.

So, Adrian, what's a good sound deadener? Is dynamat really that hot? The reason why I'm going through all the interior mods, is to quiet the road noise. This will be my daily driver, and I'm somewhat of an audiophile (clean sound, quiet car)

Charles, if you can get a product called"brown bread" it's carried by most dealer's that carry Rockford Fosgate. It has a adhesive backing on one side and a aluminum sheet on the other side, it requires no heat to apply it and it does not peel off with temp. changes, i found this to be the most effective sound material out there...

i'd like to cover my seats in oatmeal german square weave. like TMI makes for old VW's. other than that, i think the stock interior is king.
