1. I have read in some back posts, but no one ever elaborated the installation of a EN oil pan on a EB engine to gain oil capacity. Is this true? I dont think the (USA) EJ pan will work as the gasket #'s are different. How much ground clearance do you loose?

2. I have an early Mugen LSD, are there rebuild kits available, if needed? Besides the obvious, is there some type of specs you can use to tell if the diff is in need of a freshening? What is the best fluid to use for the smoothest action?

1. Yes, you gain about a litre of oil capacity with an EN1 sump. It just bolts on with an EB2/3 or EN gasket (early EB1 baskets don't have all the holes in them). You do need to do a tiny bit of clearancing at the flywheel end where the sump sits above the lower engine mount (it touches the mount) - fixed with a couple of thumps with a hammer. No idea if EJ sump = EN sump, someone else will have to answer that.
You also want to put in an EN oil pump as it has a longer pickup for the slightly deeper sump.
You loose no significant ground clearance (maybe 10mm, but can't remember exactly)

2. No, no rebuilt kits unless you are VERY VERY VERY VERY lucky.
Just look at the plates for signs of wear and cracking, if there is then there isn't a lot you can do about it unless you can find some new ones. If they look smooth and unscored then they should be fine. Those diffs have 3 different settings, depending on how you stack the plates so if it's not on its tightest setting you can always tighten it up a bit. Just use normal oil in your gearbox. Some people seem to like using synthetic, but personally I just use 10-40 mineral and maybe sometimes semi-synthetic in mine. If the oil is too slippery the synchros stop working and the diff doesn't really seem to care what type of oil you use (as long as it's good quality).

PS :I did talk to King motorsports and they can get the rebuild kits for 199 USD for a little while longer from JMD.
