Just got an email from Scott Oiler telling me the Civic Si, which was removed from the line-up, is going to be brought back.

high-output DOHC 2.0 liter 160-horsepower i-VTEC engine. Plus there's a performance-oriented 5-speed manual transmission, mounted rally-style on the center dash.
new VTC (Variable Timing Control) System. The VTC system continuously adjusts the intake camshaft phase according to the engine load.

Yeah, I posted a picture of that little guy about a week ago. Unfortunately, it looks as if only the European market may get it according to the mag I got the picture out of. It's too bad, cause it's a pretty slick looking little pocket rocket.

Aren't you guys talking 2 different models here?
The first one being Si, the second the type R...
I asked about the type R coming to Holland when picking up parts from the dealer (170 guilders for the 2 intake-rubbers for the RS carbs), they are not all too sure. He thought it would never sell well.
So what?? If there are only a hundred around, it will make me a more proud Honda-owner...

Hmm, the powertrain might differ, but the car bodies sure looked very similar.

The Si will come to america (on its way) The type R wont (Might possibly in the late futur, as the Integra Type-R started life as a JDM only car also) But yes The Si will be back... Was gone for one year with the model change... Just to straitin it out.. The Type-R and Si are very much different! Type R handles much better from what I have heard and puts out an additional 15hp? from the same engine...
P.S. One thing I don't like about the new Si is they are using that 2.0L motor makeing 160hp... well the 99-00 Si's where using a 1.6L making 160hp also... So just seems to me that the B16A based engine is still a strong runner. Even though it is a good 13 years old (was the first production VTEC motor, even before the NSX in the JDM).

well as long as it has the big rear spoiler, and its lowered (like the type R above)... it'd be one of the best lookin civics ever created in my opinion! Cooooool. By the way, can you get those types of rear spoilers for 1st gen civics? (and I don't mean those big-ass racing ugly things) ones like they got on this type-R

The new replacement for the Integra, the RSX will be getting this new engine as well. It will come in a couple states of tuning. There is a 200 hp version that will go into the RSX Type-S and the Civic Type-R (the later not appearing in US). The 160 hp engine is merely a de-tuned version of the 200 hp engine. I think it has a different head and a couple other changes. The North American crowd will be able to make a Civic Type-R with an Si and the engine and 6 speed transmission from the RSX Type-S. So who's going to be the first to put one of these into a first gen
