Hi everyone I've just bought a 1975 Civic as a cheap runaround. I have already got some 13 inch rims for it and am planning on getting a 5 speed transmission. At the moment I have gearbox oil in the gearbox but the workshop manual recommends normal engine oil. Is this correct. I find that 2nd gear crunches. Also what grade of oil is reccomended for the 5 speed?

2.8 quarts of 10W-40 for the five speed.
2.6 quarts of 10W-40 for the four speed.
