i like the old hondas, and want to build a fast civic or accord, but i wonder, what good is front wheel drive for racing? i mean its gonna suck off the line because of torque steer and weight going to the back, and it will understeer in the corners...and it's just not as cool as RWD. Can it be anything other than a woman friendly drivetrain?

Obviously you've never driven a front wheel drive that handles...
Understeer and wheelspin can be fixed with a limited slip diff and good suspension geometry. Torque steer can also be reduced but once you get used to it you don't notice it much.
At the moment my car surprises everybody who gets in it. It's very taily (too taily actually). Understeer?? ... not a chance!
Getting very sideways in a RWD with heaps of opposite lock through corners might look impressive, but it's slow.
A lot of the fastest small capacity (2litre and under) race cars around are front wheel drive.

so what do you do to a car to make it like what you're talking about?
