I have a 1978 Honda Accord which I use as a Demolition derby car every Saturday Night The problem is after last race the Drivers side spindle is farther away from the transmission then it should be and the axle pulls out of the case and the car stops moving i am going to weld the spider gears in the case so it will still move if one axle falls out but i also want to make the drivers axle about one inch longer my guess to do this would be to cut the axle and sleeve it with pipe to the length i want then weld it all up. Any thoughts or advice on this taek it mind that this car does not drive more than 15 minutes every week (about a 30 lap race)
so it doesnt have to be perfect just functional

You can do this but it would be easier to use the axle from a second gen Civic (which is already longer.)

No I already tries that the accord axle is longer than the 2nd gen and first gen axle i have axles from just about every honda first and 2nd gen except for a 1st gen prelude axle does anyone know if that is longer than an accord axle?

Nope, only one that will work is accord! Why not try to realign strut? If it has moved that much geometry is wacked and performance will suffer.

I dont care about peformance the important thing is that the car moves nothing else really matters
any ways i have fixed the problem sort of i scrapped that car and am building a new car so i dont have to worry about the axles popping out for a while... at least until this cars gets bent up like the other one did
