Gentleman - I am new to this group and look foward on talking to each one of you. After readng 90% of past post I would like to ask some questions. What is need to bring this site to the next level? What are pop-ups...pictures? Is it just time no one has? And from your findings how much money are we talking? Is it monthly or a one time fee. Due to the recession here in Portland, Oregon I am the new stay at home mom. I am finishing up my degree in the evenings. Therefore I have all the time in the world. If there is something that I can do please let me know. As I had mention in earlier post I was getting a 78 wagon, this has fallen through. Yesterday I picked up a 78 & 79 hatch backs. Both run and for a total of $400. So I will be spending alot of day time with these as well. So if anyone needs something I am using the 78 as the parts car. As of right now I know I have a 5 speed tranny and a set of glass, wheels, and seats for sale.

Wow, nice to see a lady taking an interest in these cars, most I meet don't give a care. But welcome to the group. I live up in Vancouver, BC. There's a dozen of us up here, but at least a few in your Seattle/Portland area. That 5 speed tranny looks interesting. How much would you want for it? I have been delaying my engine and tranny swap because of my 5 speed tranny problem. By the way, I also have a parts car, so I'll have plenty of extra parts too, if anyone needs something.

I think David Wolf is the only other member in Portland. I e-mailed to him last week, I think he is getting discouraged as his 73 is turning out to be lots of work. I wish I could help him out more but I'm 250 miles south and very busy remodeling my house right now. If anybody wants to check in on him and give him a kick start, please do.- nooneon@hotmail.com - is his e-mail.

Sash In reponse to your first post.

The popups (small demon adds) are gone.... Yaaaaa!

This site is pretty much at its peak, because Richard relies on donations to make improvements. A few people did kick in thats how the popups diappeared.
So most of the " How do I's" will have to be answered on a e-mail basis. Pictures may not work anymore because the limited MB's that we can exchange in a month with out costing Richard more of his own money.

how much more would it be to have the capability to post pictures? As far as I am concerned a picture is worth a thousand words.

Farfignugen (whats your real name anyway?)-Travis is from Seattle. David is the only one that I know of in Portland. Seattle is a 2 hr drive from Portland, I was trying to round someone up in the immediate area to got give ol, David a boost.
Ted is in Eugene , I'm in Medford. Is this all one big area? If it is then, very cool.
Sash
As for the bigger up grade you may ask Richard but it is my understanding the the cost was about double what was collected. All it would have taken was 24 X $10. This is a yearly fee. Like I said though Richard would have exact figures.

No worries though, as lots of people from the group e-mail each other with pic's. So you questions will get answered one way or another.

Thanks for the info Don.
I go to Seattle all the time, my folks live up there and Eugene and Medford are south. Eugene is not that far but Medford is about a 4 hour hike. I am willing to help this David guy out if I can. Let me know, and hello to all Northwesteners

Sash,
Let you know? I don't quite understand. I personally draw a lot of support from all my Civic friends around the world, and the closest one is Ted (2.5 hrs?). I would think that knowing someone in the same town that was interested in Civics would be neat, Sometimes you just need three hands when working on cars. You don't need my help to get ahold of David, Just e-mail - If you want to. Anyway, welcome to the board.

Don, I'm Austen Bach up in North Delta, BC (Vancouver area), a 2hr drive north of Seattle. I had forgotten that there's also another guy down there by the name of Nate. Search for him on the board, last time I heard he had a pile of stuff for sale. I've got a 79 civic, and a 79 special-x for parts. And I've got stock rims coming out my ears, so if anyone wants a stock set... anyways, I'm not too far away if we wanna meet. Our little group of a dozen or so up here have been wanting to organize a meet for a while. Any of you guys wanna come up here for one?

Hi Sash

I spent some time in Portland. My Dad lives in SE Portland, near the MAX transit line. . I love portland because there are so many social events, despite the weather. Beautiful place too.

I might need a spare part from the 78 Civic. I need the window rollup mechanism inside the right front door. I don't need the glass or the door knob. I'm not sure if it'll fit my 79 civic. Can you match it up to your 79 and see if the bolt patern is the same.

Thank You,
ddechon@yahoo.com

Hey Austin, I'm game for that but I would like to finish my 1200 first. I think we should try to do a west coast so our friends in CA. don't get left out.

Here's the thing no matter how cool any car is your fire will burn out if you feel like your the only one interested. This is where the more popular cars have us beat. If you cant get parts, get no advice, and have no body to show off too. Its going to suck! So we should work to harness the biggest amount of people we can and get and keep them involved. We don't like the lack of aftermarket involvement. Its supply and demand people. Show me a gathering of 100 west coast Civic freaks and maybe someone will take notice.
5 people in a parking lot cause they don't want to drive attracts no one.

There is strength in numbers, if you know of someone who is getting discouraged, pick them up. If you hear of a civic meet and its possible to make it, go. These 1st get civics are not that old, they are forgotten. Its easier to get race parts for my friends SCCA 63 Triumph or a 69 Datsun, than my Civic.

If not for Richard Nasr and a few others these cars might be forgotten forever.

We have to be promoters in a sense, move your mouth, show off your car.

From the amount of new people on the board I would say we are making headway.
Alright, I will stop ranting for now. :)

Yeah, I am from the Seattle Area.. along with a few others. I have meet a guy named Scott who has a pretty nice build-up going for him. He lives in Seattle, as i am about a 30 minute drive south of there (but close enough). It is really nice seeing this many people in about a 4 1/2 -5 1/5 hour drive from each other (Vancouver B.C. - Seattle - Oregon). We really should work out some sort of meet tward the middle some time. I don't know about all you.. but just seeing another nice civic is enough to get all my ideas freshly flowing again. But I would be more than willing to dive a few hours every once in a while to swap ideas with another civic freak. Probably will be heading up to Vancouver B.C. shortly to go to Justin's place.

P.S. I also have a bunch a misc. '79 1200 Hatch parts for sale or free off my project.. including all the motor parts (exept for the head).. Check out my For Sale post for more infor/pics.

I have been thinking over doing some advertising for this page to pull in more Civic people, so I really should probably get my butt in gear. It really is not all that hard, for quite a while I was running a hobby site (for Radio Control Cars) which was pulling in 100,000-120,000 people each month. I think even getting a quarter that number to this page would be anazing, and probably do-able. Each person that comes to the board brings just a little more to the "table". That one person could (and has before) had the answer to that anoying little problem that we were not able to salve on our own. So I figure I will start pulling the strings and get things rolling.... Here goes.

That's the day I'm going to be in the bay area to see Charles Roberts and pick up the 1200 parts.
That would have been cool!
