As I have siad I have 79 hb 1200, and a 78 hb CVCC. The cvcc motor is shot, and everything else except the dash is in tip top shape. The 1200 is rough with lots of rust due to it being a coast car its whole life.
1) would it be best to replace the CVCC motor, and go for the cosmetics?
2) is it worth the time on the 1200?
3) would the 1200 motor fit into the CVCC?
Any ideas would be appreciated!!

An engine exchange is easier than redoing the whole car. So I would recommend the CVCC with an 1st gen Accord engine transplanted in there, even though I'm partial to 1200's myself. The bigger CVCC Accord is a bolt in from what I hear.

The 1st Gen (USA) 1600 EF1 Accord motor is exactly the same as the corresponding 1500 except for a stroker crank and shorter rods to match it. It is a direct drop in in the CVCC body. If you are going to change motors this is a good way to go, as the added torque is available all of the time...it is a noticeable difference. I'd try to get a shortblock from Honda, and then redo your head if it is in useable shape.
