I was at the japan Honda page, and they have a lot of info and pictures of their old vehicles. I came across something called a Honda 1300, an interesting sedan/coupe. I thought the coupe looked really cool, and, even though they didnt have them here has anyone seen one or know anything about them? here are the pictures and stuff http://www.honda.co.jp/soeno/photo_id/1300/n_ct70_2.html

That car was a prototype, just before the Civics came out. The engine was a 1300cc AIR COOLED(!) unit. Unfortunately, the drivetrain package was too heavy. Handling was "less than satisfactory", so the design was scrapped.

I couldn't say whether or not it was sold... I just know it wasn't one of their "better recieved" ideas. I first read about this car in the book about Honda that came out about three years ago(you know, standing in the bookstore, skimming the pics, reading the interesting tidbits). It also had info on the pick up truck they made. His first 4 wheeled vehicle, if I remember right.

They most certainly were sold! They came in two versions. Single carb Coupe7, quad carb Coupe9. Never seen a four door version, not sure if it was ever produced. They are quite interesting animals. Air cooled, dry sump, 100hp/litre (Coupe9). There aren't a lot of them around but they are certainly there. There are some very nice ones floating around in Queensland (Australia).
Historically they are quite interesting as well as they are, I believe, the last car Soichiro Honda had a major hand in designing.

Honda Australia brought two of the 4 door Sedans (badged as "Honda 77") into the country for evaluation in the early 70's. I have seen one (red) driving around Melbourne. The whereabouts of the other one (blue) are not known. I always thought it looked like a slightly smaller Datsun P510 (aka Bluebird, aka "1600").
