ok..... i'm pissed off.

someone broke into every car on our street. My 76 CVCC was not immune. (I left a door unlocked.) I use the ashtray on the dashboard as a coin box... $10 was untouched. I left some Canadian Tire money on the floor (i.e. $$ for Pepboys for those in the US) and it was untouched.

what did they take you ask....

they only took the things that are really hard to replace.... (1) an OEM am/fm radio (thanks anyway Todd, but it's gone now), AND (2) a MINT '76 CVCC owner's manual.

they left the doors slightly ajar so they wouldn't make any noise when they shut them.... therefore, the battery wore down.

What I can't understand is the 4 brand new - in the box - jack stands and stock carburetor in the hatch were also untouched. hmmmmm.

Can anyone help out.
Insurance deductible is $250 and I know that is WAY MORE than the value of any of what was stolen.

any help is appreciated.

thanks
Ed

Take a good look around in your neighborhood, I'd bet they decided 'what the hell are we going to do with this junk' and pitched it somewhere.

That's what happened to me before, found stuff in the woods 100 yards away from where my Mazda was sitting on blocks with no wheels or stereo. Found everything but the wheels and tires, someone must have scared them off. Luckily my deductible was $250 at the time and insurance set me up pretty good. I needed new tires anyway!

Still Hate to hear about stuff like this . . .

That sucks. I too left the door unlocked and the neighborhood kids went through the car looking for stuff but found only fuses. I keep the extra fuses in a film canister and they must have thought it was weed, leaving everything on the floor.

That is a very weird senario...almost like it was someone else with a '76 Honda Civic.

You think that's bad? In January I parked in parking lot for only 25 min, and some ass busted the rear side quarter glass. Still don't get why they busted that one, being the smallest window. Anyways, they crawled in through there, stole my fiance's purse, some brand new clothes, her cell phone, etc. and they didn't even touch my tools. Luckily my stereo wasn't in at the time. Man that sucks! So I know how you guys feel. I wanna find a baseball bat and go find them!!

lets all share our bad luck with stolen things. i parked (when i lived there) my honda right up my drive next to the house, and for some reason, i left my new mobile that my girlfriend bought me for my birthday in the car. that night some coons (not being racist, the word coon only applied to aboriginal people that piss me off) opened my drivers door (which you can do with anything) took my phone, had a pull at my cd player - which i had bolted in well and they couldn't remove. the security light at the house probably just let them see what to steal. then my door was left ajar also, as not to make noise.
about a week after that, my brothers car got stolen, found in a abo infested nearby town with everything smashed or taken (cept the flash wheels, nuts and caps were all gone, but couldn't figure out how to lift the car to get the wheels off!). later that week my brothers friends car got stolen (i heard it take off so we drove around all night looking for it). that was found in the worst abo town in the worst abo street. then the next week my brothers bike was stolen from our garage! that was a good month! so i bought a ccd camera and watched the front of the house, and the bastards never came back. damn!

When my car had a stereo, it was a pretty well hidden system(except for the sheetmetal dash). That, plus the fact that the outside didn't look that great, meant no one really looked twice at my car. So I'd never had an alarm. I'd decided to change some things around, so for awhile, the setup was quite visible. I started work at 6:00am, and when we went outside for break at 9:00, the system was gone. I mean all of it, the deck, the amp, the two 8" bazooka tubes, my CD's and the portable player and adapter I used in the deck. Around here, stolen stuff doesn't get any response from the police. To many other things going on. So I'm dealing with the phone report, wandering around my car, and surprize! There, in some abandoned cabinets nearby, are my amp and the tubes. To finish this rambling story, we figured out it was one of the few people who walked to work nearby(never saw him again though). He took the stuff, then probably realized, "How am I going to explain carrying an amp and these tubes?" so he stashed 'em. To my benefit, the decks' cassette drive was broken as well as the display(I knew the buttons from memory). The portable had been a freebie. The loss of the CD's is what really sucked. Those and the window he broke with some irreplacable sticker/logos.

I've had an alarm ever since(when there's a system:)).

My turn! Parked on the street right in front of the house. They grabbed the lock cylinder on the passenger side door and turned it to unlock the car (not a bad way to break in, if you don't mind mangling the sheet metal). Anyway, they took their own sweet time going through the car, found my spare key (duh-why keep it in the car?!)and drove off. NOW FOR THE FUN PART- I called the cops and all the credit card companies (my wallet was under the seat. Duh!) then decided to have a look around the neighborhood for clues. We live right next to Golden Gate Park, so I figured they might have stashed some of the stuff in the bushes. In the very least, I was hoping they just took the stuff of value and left my book bag with all my writing and school books in it. (DUH!!!) Now, I'm a big guy, and at that time I had stock seats in the car welded in place further back than stock. The theives, obviously short, tried to drive away up one of our many San Francisco hills, but were unable to reach the pedals because the seat was welded too far back! Short f*ckers! (Not being racist or hightist, just telling it like it was). Anyway, they must have tried to get up the hill a few times because there were marks on the pavement; but they finally gave up and backed the car on to a nearby lawn. They stole everything, even the deodorant in the glove box (I forget sometimes, so I keep a spare) but they left the car- even shut it off so it wouldn't wake up the neighbors. Moral of the story: never leave anything in your car, and don't be afraid to weld your seat in place. If nobody else can drive the car, then nobody can steal it.

I guess i've been lucky...they tried to steal my old convertible(yellow one)by slashing the roof(above the drivers' window)GOTTA BE STUPID MOTHER F@#$%R'S(the top is attached with snaps!!)The locks are disconnected, so they unsnapped it from the back and climbed over the rear seats and yanked on the choke cable to open the hood!!(REAL STUPID!!)they were scared off by someone and so the car stayed...Listen to this one..my first honda (77' lime green civic)parked in a London Drugs underground parking lot. The locks are discconected, but still they twisted and tried to get in!! but to no avail, went to ICBC and they said there was to much damage to the door, so they gave me a replacement cost for a new door(got a used one, and the claim paid for a new paint job!!) So all in all i've been lucky!

when i say coon, i mean lowlifes. in mildura i live next a coon, and he's not aboriginal. until you live in a town that has coons roaming the streets day and night, you can't say shit. it is that bad, when my brothers car was stolen, the police told my brother the house where the people that very very very very likely stole his car lived, and that at 2am it would take 15mins for a police car to get there, should a brick go through their window. the police absolutely hate aboriginals (street roaming variety). without the shit they cause mildura would be a perfect place to live. but as i stress, when anyone is not stealing my shit, than i have no problem with them. that goes for all races.

Sorry to hear about all the thievery guys. I make a point of NOT locking my car at all. With my newly redone pull back roof it would just be way to easy for someone to cut it open to get in. I have a removable faceplate on my stereo that leaves the car when I do (although why someone would want my stereo is beyond me!)I dont leave anything of value in the car,and I use a club on the wheel for theft deterant. If one of them little bastards want to rifle thru the car let em at it as long as the're not bustin things up inside.

Instead of trying to write all your frustrations down here, try help "Ed" with his radio and manual...!! I'm starting to hear words I don't like...I'm no Ozzy, so the word coon doesn't mean much to me, but I'm starting to feel it's something I don't wanna hear, like Abo this and Abo that! Stick to the word lowlife, and you won't be hurting a whole group of innocent people.
Your right, I don't live there, I live in a country filled with so much different nationalities that I wouldn't know who to start blaming!! Now this is not to be attacking you, cause you explained yourself more than once, but just leave those damn words out....and explanation is not needed :)
Don't forget these people's grandfolks may have been there first, and they may NOT have gotten all the chances you had from birth.... I can understand everybody's angry, but let's not get carried away here, and see there's at least 2 sides to every story! Be happy you don't need to break into a car tonight to get whatever it is they need it for!!!
Just my thoughts.....:)

my brothers car was just abandoned when we found it. but i guess they needed to express their hard up situation by breaking every bit of glass, and denting every panel with the tyre jack they also needed. what these people i am talking about need is something to do. but that doesn't make what happens right.
