Mo, Justin here...I would be up for a cruise, but i'm just finishing off another conversion (D16Z6-SOHC VTEC)in a '78 hatch, and we would really like to take it on the cruise, I'm will have it done for a show and shine on Aug 26th( it's in Ricemond(ooops..Richmond)...

We can cruise sometime around there if everyone else is free...

Hey guys, sorry I haven't been very active on the board. Just trying to monitor and run it is a big enough job. I would love to do some coordinated vancouver meet. Only if my civic was on the road. I've got a major oil leak and it's parked until I can round up the dough to do a thourough job. It's leaking a stream out from the rear temperature sensor. Any idea what it may be?

Hey Richard,
If the temp sensor you speak of is on the back of the block, its the oil pressure sending unit (not temp). I've seen them go bad before and they leak like crazy. Just replace it.

and we collectively divy up the findings ..
... and of course have a friendly barbecue to wrap it up ..

at least it would give us a fun thing to do with our hondas on a sunday afternoon ..

i saw that one of our flock from kelowna is moving to edmonton and has a terrific stash of cars and parts that he is wanting to disburse ..

i have asked him which weekend he is available for a visit ... anybody need anything or want to take a trip with me and a truck? ..
i'm goin' if you want to share the gas...

i was also thinking of rounding up some want to be owners ... he has some drive away cars as well .. (i'mm looking for a hatch back .. mine's a sedan ..) so, if you know of anyone we could convert .. bring 'em on!!

A bad oil sending unit can literally leak quarts/litres of oil in normal daily driving it monitors full oil pressure all of the time the engine is running.

the show is being held in richmond at a wholesale supplier (car audio stuff) the company name is Staub Electronics and the address is #120-12791 Clarke Place. IT is on Sunday, August 26. i think showtime starts at 10:00am. I will have my wagon and the convertible with trailer there for sure and hopefully the VTEC powered 78 hatch.

Thanks for coming by, so we could meet, Twyla's car took "Best Honda" at the show, the wagon took second and the blue took third!!...Old Skool power!

The show ended at 2:30 and then we went to another show n' shine also in Richmond and again Twyla's convertible took "Best Import" out of a class of 23 cars, i took third..

Good job Justin, and Twyla.. But you all deserve it, as those two car... are just awesome... Although haven't seen the blue one yet. Nice to know that those two are winning the highest awards and would be able to go out to the track and romp on all those "Cookie Cutter" new Honda's that seem to all look the same (hence the saying)...

on an aside .. i was working on location the other day, and was proud to drive up in my car. (which is newly back on the road)now, i work on a transport crew, and as i've been talking about my car to the guys i've been pretty much taken not so seriously.. (you know, a cross between .."that's nice" and "ya, right")
they are into "serious" cars .. hot rod 32 model a's and such .. so, the big day arrived. i parked in a bold location. as we walked over to my little red honda, this black 77 civic screamed up to it, slammed on the brakes and two guys jumped out and circled it .. ooing and ahhhing .. my boss looked at me and said "man, you'd think they just discovered a rare corvette!" ..
... in a stranger turn, i was surprised to hear my boss brag to them about how "she put the engine in by herself ya know" ..
my jaw hit the ground

pretty funny stuff ..

a gratifying honda moment ..
i can only speculate what they would have done over justin and twylas machines ..

maybe someday when i'm on location again i'll let you all know and you can drop by and say hi .. show these hot rodders what we're all about!

I'll be able to come out with you all as soon as I get my 1979 civic done. Just a quick question, what would be the easier swap and why:
accord - early 80's (please specify)
or
prelude - early 80's
I heard that an '85 prelude 1800 ES will go in with minimal mod's. Is this true?

Dave, the early accord/prelude use the same motor mounts as the 1200. If you go with either of these motors you will want to go with either a 1200 5sp tranny or the early 80's civic 1300/1500 5sp. The problem with the accord/prelude tranny is that it's a hydraulic set-up. You can use the later accord tranny(83'-85')in instead of the others(it's cable) I've done a swap with a 84 accord motor and tranny. it fits but the only thing you have to modifiy is the torque rod to fit. I might try the 85 prelude motor(I just picked up a '78 civic hondamatic, I drove it last night and the oil pump is gone...so it's time for a new motor!!)It's a winter car for the wife...
