Here's what I have so far. I want to make the sticker square, not "bumper" style, and I want color for sure. Red does not do well in the sun, so the color of the RS will change to yellow, or something. (I want to stay with an original color). The civic is an RS, and I'm thinking of adding the words "CVCC" and "1200" to the bottom left and bottom right of the large "V" in civic.

Please let me know what you like, hate, would rather have and I'll work it up when I can find time.

Forgot to mention the finished art will be crisp and sharp (even if I have to ink it by hand) and the dimensions will be 4" wide, and 3" tall, or therabouts.

I'll make some calls and do some searching for a place that will print these on mylar or vinyl. If any of you have done this before please email me with your experience and costs. etc. Thanks

Good looking sticker, except I think the quickest way to ruin a car is by putting stickers on it. But, I'm sure I could find some place to put it.

I have to agree with you Jacob. The civic I bought was quickly cleaned of all garbage sticker but one which I thought was worthy of keeping. This sticker, I hope, will capture the quality and imagination of the group. The finished size can also be debated, so if smaller is desired, so be it.

I like the look of the previous oval/round stickers. They seem a little smaller. Plus the color seems to stand out on this red car too much. I like the other design because it won't attract too much attention.

The finished size can be made down to 2" if desired, so this example serves only as a draft, and not finished design.

Here are a few more examples for your consideration:

cool designs ....

you know what i'd like to see ..
remember the old autoclub ensignia that were made of metal? .. oval and chrome with red and blak and white painted letters?

it would be great to get something like that ade up to the specs of the little holes in the hatch/trunk lid.. then it would look like part of the car, be shiny and cool looking, and mount perfectly ... no muss, no fuss ... no out of era distraction ..
i would also like to see a discrete yet stylish inclusion of a www. address ...

i'd pay ...

I personally like the look of the ones found on the old posts on a different "discussion". The reason being they are simpler... will site well with all different paint jobs, and most in portent the simple design can be made with a vinyl decal machine... where as the more complex ones will need to be printed onto a square sticker and on top of being more bulky, they also will not last as long as the vinyl and will cost much more too. Just my 2 cents.

Don't get me wrong guys, I agree that simple is often best. I can do simple no problem, or if you guys want, I can get complex, just give me some direction, as you can see, i'll make it look pro. So... you guys want a wide one, good for vinyl or sticker prints? No problem, just tell me exactly what to put on there, and I'll make it look sweet.

How about T-Shirts?!? License Plates?

Maybe use this logo on the front of a T-Shirt and choose some cool pics for the back, or even just a bigger version on the back.

It is looking sweet. Maybe I'd leave off the 1st Gen part and maybe the Racing, or write it somewhere else. Just to leave the Honda and CIVIC logos alone.

Go Vinyl. Only bad part is the more colors you have the more expensive it gets.

I like the simple ones as well. Question though, why does it have to say racing. I dont plan on racing mine on a track or anything, plus I always thought those stickers that say racing on a street car looked kind of funny. Just a thought.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Travis (24.4.254.128) on Thursday, August 16, 2001 - 01:28 am:

I agree with the "racing" I plan to be racing mine, but rather not drive around on the street with it saying that. If only my image program wasn't being dumb I could put an idea in. "far." the last black image is good an neutral. I think there are a lot of people on the board that don't want to be to flashy. Maybe kill the "Racing" and center the wide "H" logo with the "Honda" above, "Civic" Bellow and the "1st Gen" inside the upper section of the wide "H" logo. Just an Idea... Seriously though that layout above looks close to something I feel people would be happy with.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Tom (203.109.252.19) on Thursday, August 16, 2001 - 02:00 am:

Yeah I agree with Travis, the racing is cool if you are ,but on the street (to me at least) I'd feel a little silly with that bit on my civic. Apart from that the black and white one is cool as, maybe for the people with street cars you could just have the CIVIC in bigger letters taking up the space where it says racing.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Travis (24.4.254.128) on Thursday, August 16, 2001 - 06:09 pm:

Really Close Farfig... Acually looks good though. The only difference I had in mind was The "Honda" Above the wide "H" logo and the "civic" Below the wide"H" logo. But keep the "1st Gen" where it is. So the sticker will probably turn out to be more of a square shape. But at the same time, the Second to last one you have posted would really probably be best for a window. But at the same time ddechon is porbably right with the "club", but not to sure on an idea for layout with "club" added. ..... Just some ideas.

uhm, i whipped up something (started learning graphic design techniques from the net just this week - so don't pick). this probably that suitable, i did it for fun. but if you can tell me what to do (content wise) then i can change or do something completely different. also, i don't agree with the word 'racing' on any of the stickers - it brings bogans in crappy fords and holdens to mind when i see it written like that (eg. jim beam racing - or something equally as lame). i guess i'll try and post the pic now. btw, the orange stuff is an attempt at rust.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By Travis (24.4.254.128) on Thursday, August 16, 2001 - 11:18 pm:

Yes, Sash as far as a Sticker that last image done by electrics would be much more money to make per-sticker than one of the latest black images Farfa. has done. But as a shirt... would be an interesting design, or maybe something like it. I think it is really great to see how much input has gone into this topic of something bringing us together as a "Club". Means everyone is willing to put in some info and really do want one (or a few) of these stickers... and it is great! I think on top of all the care we put into our cars, having a small sticker saying something to do with "club" kinda shows the general public just how much we like our little cars.

Electricks, nice work on the design. I've done stuff like that before, I just don't have the time to make one up, but your is sweet. That'd easily work for a t-shirt. Get rid of the android though, doesn't really make sense. And make sure the Honda H is the wide first gen style. Just steal it off my pics. I'd like to see some more from you, you've definetly got some talent.

Travis, I was looking to create a sticker for the top of the rear glass, a long one that goes across the whole glass. IMO, that'd look nicer than a little square one. Where would you stick a square one? I don't know.

Oh yeah, and I'll make one up soon with 'club' on it, and probably civic1200.com

I agree with Ed, even though that other sticker looks pretty cool... The first design seemed like a good start to me. Just my two cents.

Speaking of T-shirts, mine has finally been finished! For an advance viewing, stop by the First Gen. meet this Sunday 8/26/01 at the fairgrounds in Pleasanton, CA. (If you feel like reading up on the whole thing, check the "Bay area meet" posting on the board). I'll make the shirts available here after the meet; but the price will be (a little) higher to cover costs. Price at the meet is $10.00 a shirt- can you say bargain? I'm totally taking a bath on this one; but if it means everybody shows at the meet, then it will be well worth it!

Meantime, keep those sticker ideas coming!

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By ddechon (12.78.117.97) on Friday, August 24, 2001 - 10:30 am:

I like them all!

My step-dad silk screens t-shirts. He's got a small setup and can do basic 1-4 color designs. He charges a lot more for the setup fee, but after that the shirts are reasonable. I don't think he can make hats though. Hats are usually embroidered by computer operated sewing machines. It's easy to set up a machine to do embroidery so the cost shouldn't be too bad. When I was stationed in Korea, the setup fee was free. They could do any logo within minutes and you only paid for the hat.

About a year ago I thought there should be a club for older Hondas. A few people said "Good Luck" and moved on. I'm glad to see the happening.

Also, My neighbor just setup his own business online selling t-shirts. He doesn't make the t-shirts but he does draw the designs. The t-shirts were made and shipped to him. He made is own e-commerce web page (adults only www.oliair.com) where people could buy products online. Maybe the profit of the t-shirts and hats could go back into the club or website. If not an e-commerce web site, we should have a basic website offering products, prices and a phone number.

Another idea: Have you heard of PayPal? Paypal is a free service that lets you pay anybody online in seconds who is a member. It's used in ebay a lot. Who ever sells club stuff should be a member of paypal so we can get our stuff fast.

Mike, you're skill is surpassed only by the amount of time on your hands! (Joke.)

The T is beautiful, and so is the cap. The shirt I made is specific to the Bay Area Meet, so we won't have any competition issues. If we set up an online store, I hope we can sell them all (other meet shirts, hats, or ?). Looks like we've just added another new category to Richard's humble little site.

Whoe, I'm not trying to make money here. I didn't know anybody was out to make money. I thought we were just doing it for each other and for the club (all for one and one for all, sorta thing.) I also thought that I'd eventually be able to buy one of these t-shirts myself.

Anyway, I called my stepdad about the t-shirts. He said it would cost $10.30 per t-shirt if there was a back and front, one-color design. I requested all cotton quality t-shirts. There's a 24 shirt minumum.

He can silk screen hats, or have them embroidered some where else. We didn't discuss the costs of hats.

He is located in Eagle Rock, CA. (near L.A.)

I was just trying to ad some info. I can do more but that's up to all of you.

hey ..
i love the oval design ..
i sure would like to see it in a metal stamp .. for the grill or something ..
also about the hats ..
i think .. (just my opinion) that embroidery would be the way to go ..
there is a shop here in town (vancouver) that i've used before .. there is a set up fee, but it would easily be absorbed into the cost of the hats ..
(we might want to see how many hats people would want, then i could do some pricing out of the hats and embroidery and come back with an idea of cost per hat)

as for t shirts, i think definitely cotton, and definitely the three colours (black red and grey fom the oval design)

and, i think we could save overall costs by doing the work in canada for the same dollar number, but actually cheaper cuz our dollar is past approaching rubel status ..(also known as "the canadian peso)
this would be more affordable for the canadians and aussie/NZ ers, and also a sweet deal for the americans ..
my brother also screens .. i'll ask him about cost as well ..

Here's a slightly modified and cleaned-up version of the oval design that I put up here a while back.

Here is what I would consider a "final version" of the oval. I tweaked some of the spacing on the text. I also tried a different effect on the oval and I'm not sure which one I like better (I'm leaning toward the innie). Since I have nothing to do this week I am going to go to a print shop to see how much it would cost to run these off in bulk (say 50 or 100 to start). I would also consider getting dash plaques made out of aluminium if I could find a place to do it.

Oh yeah, I was also thinking of a 2" x 4" size for the sticker. I printed out a couple of samples and they look like that'd be a pretty good size for them. Hopefully I can get these printed up cheap enough to sell them for $2-3US.

If I wanted to put any of these stickes on my car...I'd put them in the back window...so make the background transparent!!

So I went to a company on the internet last night and had a prototype printed up and sent to me. They do anywhere from 1 to 1000+ sticker runs, so I bought one to see what the quality of the sticker is like. I should get it sometime this week and if it is of good quality, I am going to get a run of 100 made. With this particular company's prices I'd be able to let the stickers go for about a buck apiece which is by far the best deal that I've found so far. The stickers would be 3" x 5" and they would be rectangle or oval cut.

There are a couple of other companies that I have requested quotes for, but their prices are significantly higher and I'd have to charge about $3-4 apiece just to cover costs. In any case I'll keep everyone posted on what happens and hopefully I can have a batch of stickers ready in the next 2-4 weeks.

Oh, I can also have them printed up on clear vinyl and that reflective "laser tape" material, but those would cost quite a bit more than standard white ones.

A white oval would look the best and stand out nicely flying by other cars on the freeway.

My tshirt and cap design are looking like a real posibility, selling at $30 Australian each...

Using 190gm White tshirts and the black caps with the white rim as shown in the pic...

I am looking at getting 15 tshirts made and 10 caps, but am just wonderin how many people off of this board would be interested in them as I have already had a reasonable amount of interest locally...

Taking a guess as to how much a tshirt and cap would weight including packaging the worse case scenario looks to be $44US for 1 tshirt and 1 cap including p&h... or $29US for either a tshirt or cap including p&h ...

Im still trying to bring the cost down somewhat however i have no idea what a tshirt and cap are worth in the US so if someone could let me know what a reasonable price is over there I'll try to aim to get the price down to that...

The other possibility is that i could send a batch over to someone in the US to distribute and that way cut down on the postage as that is around the $13US mark for 750gms
