wow just found the site today ... very sweet ... anyway me and a buddy lucked up on a 75 civic cvcc about 2 yrs ago. when we got the car it was already set up for racing (partially anyway) the interior is gutted but all the glass is still in it.. the car has a 1500 cvcc motor and its pretty stout not fast but quick .. and the car handles well its really been a lot of fun we run the middle georgia south eastern reigon scca autox.. and have been doing pretty good.... oh yea back to the car ... its got a a 2bbl holly carb and a set of headders other than that the engine may be stock... havent blown it up yet (if it ain't broke) and no muffler 2 in straight pip to the back and a tip ... car has full role cage and 5 point harness ... when we went to pick the car up we took a 22ft trailer and a suburban and the guy had been collecting parts since like 84 so i have 2 extra complete engines 1800, and 1500, a couple trannys 1 may be a five speed and some holly carbs extra body pannels ,fenders , hoods, doors, 3 sets of wheels all kinds of shit ....
one of my questions is why is every body running 1200's and does anyone know what can be done to the 1500's to make some moore power. im being out powered in my race class... the other is how to post a pic.. i have some of the car and could take some more.. also does anybody know where i can get the fender flares i been seeing or a wing.... also does anybody know of engine mods for the 1800 i have and witch one might work out better for auto cross... like horse power to weight .....

The long and short of it is, The 1200's are much lighter (I can carry a "longblock" with one hand) and have quite a bit of "known" potential. The CVCC's are heavier and have been neglected as a performance engine. This just means more people have made power with the 1200's than the 1500, 1600 and 1800's. With work, any of them can move your car pretty well. Bone stock, the 1200's and the 1500's make about the same power (50ish HP). The 1800's are around 75 HP.

Todd and I lift BOTH inside tires at our autocrosses! Not by choice . . . most of the time you don't even know it.

Rear wheel lift is usually due to chassis flex. Hence the VW hatchbacks that can clear a pylon!

Check out the picture on my site of me just lifting a front tire after I got a cage welded in my car. Much stiffer.

Oh yeah, the 1500 CVCC is a HEAVY motor too. Cast iron block.

Acually if you look to the left and click on "Formatting" it has a quick easy explanation on posting pics.

The first Gen Civics('73-'79), Accords('76-'81(?)) and Preludes(can't remember) are amazingly interchangable. '84 is about the time Honda made some major changes. That said, yes, you can put CVCC trannies with 1200 engines(or CVCCs' with 1200 trannies). You just need to pay attention to the ratios in the various gearboxes. Some have better gearing for racing than others.

As far as suspension goes, everything you can use is buried right here in this discussion board. What you're thinking about sounds like an OK idea, but in the end, you'll save a TON of time and money if you stick to the earlier(first and second Gen) parts and follow the advise that's here. And don't worry, just because the parts are an older design, doesn't mean you'll go any slower. They'll just fit better.:)
