I'm fiddle farting with my spare '79 EK1 motor, I just pulled apart the head and was noticing that my head (siamesed exhaust ports)has the shielding inside that has started to break down and curl up.
I'm wondering:
a) how did Honda install it in the head?
b) how can I get it out?

I know what I really need is to get an '81 Head for my '79 block, but I can get a header from Nopi (Pacesetter brand) that fits the 2 exhaust port style head. I've yet to find header for the 4 exhaust port model.

I've tried prying it out of there, but there has to be a better way to do this??

thanks
Paul

Hmm, that header wouldn't fit an ED-3 two-port exhaust would it? If it does could you give me the information on how to get a hold of one of those?

nope, the shielding is stamped sheet metal actually inside the head, inside the exhaust ports. hmmm... I think you guys are going to make me have to learn how to post photos here. I'll see if I can figure that out tomorrow. then you'll see what I'm talking about.

OH, would it fit an ED-3, dunno, possibly? just go to www.nopi.com and do a search for exhaust for your car. it's a Pacesetter brand and it has 2 exhaust ports, if you've got a 1500cc motor I should think it would work, anybody agree / dissagree?

it says it's for a '79 Accord, but I don't think there would be a problem with it fitting an ED??

Paul; That was 'molded' into the head when it was cast. I've had some that were so used that parts of it were melted/worn off! Just try and port one of those! They had too much overheating problems that they went to the double dual exhaust ports like the late 80-81 accord and early 80's civics.......Hey Paul can you get me a pair of rear lower control arms for a accord hatch? Let me know?

That header you want won't fit in a Civic the bends are not steep enough to clear your frame rail the rack sits in. I have one of each header for the 2 and 4 port heads and they are both for Accords which has 3 extra inches from the motor to the lower cross member. My friend tried to modify his and only ruined it. I have the four port one at a muffler shop being modified or they might just make me new down tubes.

Ramon, If they can't get it fixed I'd be interested in the 4-port header!
