Who is the wisest of them all? I am having a huge problem with my vacume lines on my 79 CVCC with a EK1 motor. I will start with the Charcoal Canister. Beneath the fuel line stub on the fire wall to the tank side of the canister. Line out to the carb...BUT wich port on the back side of the carb - driver or passenger side? Second I have 2 thingamajobbers mounted to my firewall SIMIMILAR to what is shown in the Haynes (called the dashpot solenoid and the start control solenoid valve) BUT again not exactly. I can e-mail pics of these things if needed. Third the second port on the back of the carb goes where? The four-way joint with the fixed orfice on the drivers side. Where do all of these go. As you can see I am pretty mixed up. Thanks in advance for the help. I will continue to stare at my Haynes and my engine bay, maybe the persistance will pay off.

There should be a vacuum diagram for your particluar car on the underside of your hood.

Sash, try to get a factory service manual. Actually get one for both cars/years. I know that sounds a little heartless, but those books are very very good for this type of thing. I have a factory manual for a 79 Civic CVCC, But I don't have one for the Accord. I can scan the pages for the Civic and Email them to you...
Oh, Ebay always has old Honda Service manuals. Haynes and Chilton are good, but they usually try to cram to much info for too many years and models in one book. Honda is year/model specific.

That reminds me... Anyone know of a good place to buy Used Honda Service Manuals, other than E-bay.

The plug wires go on exactly like the same as your older motor. If you removed your cap and wires together you just need to pop them on as they are. It might be your distributor is off a notch or 180 out. Your cap should also be marked for the # 1 wire location as is your cylinder head.

Thanks Ramon. What is happening is when I use the 1,3,4,2 firing order I get not spark or start. When I use the 4,3,1,2, it start but wont stay running. NOw that I think about it, I bet I am 180 out. Any other suggestions would be great.

Another common problem is that the distributor turns about 30 Degrees as you insert it into the housing. So you have to start about 30 degrees retarded before installation. Turn the rotor clockwise approximately 30 degrees and as you install it watch it slowly turn, it should settle down pointing right at the number one wire. Make sure that you have the engine at TDC cylinder #1.
