I found a 78 CVCC Civic in the junk yard yesterday with some wheels that I've always
wanted. They look like little mags to me.
They're 12 inch and in great shape. Anyway...the damn things have wheel locks on each wheel. I recall 12 years ago seeing someone just hammer a
socket over the lock and take it right off. Anyone have any ideas?

I have a body work catolog, that has a universal lugnut lock remever set. If I recall they were like $60 US for the set. But it is an option... if you can't find another way to get them off.

You can try to tap with a chisel in the direction of removing them, be careful, I did it and once they loosen you can get them with channel locks.

Hammer on a hardened socked it works. Use half inch and a breaker bar. Works every time.

That sounds like a good way, but at the same time how do you remove the "stuck" lug once it is removed from the wheel?

You will need a screw driver or center punch to pop them off from the side you put the ratchet on.
It can take some time but if really want the wheels then its worth it.

I've got four sets of wheels this way and most of the time they aren't very tight. I usually tap it on first to see how tight the nuts are and go from there. Sometimes I just wiggle it off when the nut is still on the rim but already loose enough to spin off. The first time I did it I pounded it on so tight it took 20 minuets to get my nut out of the socket. I ended up putting it back on the lug (loose)and just wiggling it till it loosened up.
