I am getting ready to replace my motor in my 1979 Honda Civic CVCC. Blowing smoke. I read on here that the import EK1 had almost 100hp. The problem is that all the companies that import used engines from Japan said they can't get one because they are to old. One place I called was Japanese Engine Land that had a (714) area code. They said they could special order one but needed a 50% deposit. Total price was going to be 500. After calling a few other places, which did not and could not get one, I spoke to a guy who said you should watch out because they will probably go to a junk yard and get a motor and sell it to you and say it is a low mileaged import from Japan. Obviously I do not want this to happen. The idea here is to get the 100hp EK1. Anyone have any experience with this company? does anyone have any suggestions on obtaining this motor along with a 5 speed? From what I have read this swap is esentially a bolt in process. Thanks for all the help.

Hi Jeff
Instead of getting a 100hp EK engine,I suggest u to go for D15B,it comes in 106hp stock (non vtec),and no need to buy a frontcut if u planning to use the carburetor version of the engine.I've done it only for US$500 including installation.

Azlee, What year motor is this? What modifications are required? What tranny did you use? What year is your car? Sorry for all the questions. $500 seems really cheap. Where did you have it done at?
Thanks
Jeff

Hi Jeff
The motor came from a 88 civic,it's d15b sohc non vtec and it's a single carburetor,my car is a 1977 version,it's a 4 door ver and the stock engine is 1500cc,I've done it in Malaysia, the engine cost me RM 1000(US$250) and the installation cost me RM1000(US$250),the engine is cheap coz u don't have to buy the frontcut,u only have to buy the engine with gear box,the wiring can be done by the mechanics since it doesn't use a computer(ecu)to run it.About the tranny I'm sorry coz I don't know what does it mean. And u need to use the mounting for the D15B engine, make sure u buy the engine with it's mountings intact.Since it's a sohc minor modifications needed to insert the engine. The engine is the same as a D15B vtec sohc except it doesn't have the vtec and it's a carburetor ( no pgm fi).the sohc vtec is 115hp in stock and the non vtec version is about 106hp,u can go to this web for enginee spec :
