Hi,
I am wondering if the cam bearing surfaces that is a part of the lifter assembly are interchangeable from head to head? I know the cam bearing surfaces on the Toyota heads are specific to the head.
I find alot of bare EB3 heads at junkyards that are missing the top cam bearing surfaces/lifters
. Have anyone here stuck a generic lifter assembly on a EB3 head that was not original to the head?

To clear this up...you might get lucky and it would work...for a while, but they are linebored as a matched set, so I would not recommend it. A good machine shop can resize and line bore mismatched sets to factory specs...for a price. Also unless you are dealing with perfect followers, they may self-destruct early if you use used followers with a different cam. It is expensive to do this right, and build a motor that will last.

Just thought I should add another thought... I wouldn't walk away from a good EB3 head just because the rockers are missing...I would use it as a bargaining point though, as it will cost you money to get the machine work done. I guess it depends on how rare EB3 heads are in your area.
One thing that is extremely important is there be no cracks between the valves...and this is a common problem on EB3 heads because the valves are so close together, probably a sign of overheating..my guess. That is an expensive repair, and not all that reliable.
Hondahead...did my last Email get through to you?
