I know we have been beating this question up for months but.... Anyway is it physically that easy to to put the 1300 crank and rods with goldwing pistons in a 79 1200? and is it really worth it. because my 1200 runs really strong now and I just got it back. but I like most of you are never satisfied and want "need" more. I just dont wanna tear the dam thing down again if its not retaliative easy and I can say wow after its done. the parts I can get pretty easy so that's not an issue (I have 1300 short block)so any ideas comments or criticism

It's not harder to do than putting in a standard crank, though you may have to clearance the main bearing cage slightly.

If you've got the EN1 bottom end, why not just use it as is and put the EB3 head on it? Saves hassle with the torque rod later too.

Will the EN1 fit straight onto the EB engine mounts?

Yes.

You won't even notice the 1300 bottom end if your engine is stock or only slightly modified. You will notice the extra compression. The stuff literally bolts in with no modification if you use 1200 rod bolts in the 1300 rods. If you use the 1300 bolts you will have to clearance the main bearing cage like Andrew said.

todd,
if you wont even notice the 1300 bottom end, why swap it in the first place?
does the 1300 internals swap really giving any power?

The 1300 bottom end gives a longer stroke which translates into more torque. With an otherwise stock motor, there isn't a significant increase in power. With a heavily modified motor the difference is very noticable.

How much bigger that stock are the valves? You'll notice it with a #68 or #149 cam. With the #102 you probably won't notice enough to justify the trouble you'll go through to change the stuff.

I use the #68 with my 1300 and Goldwings and it rocks. Be sure to get an adjustable pulley to get the power in the rpm range you want.

Todd, what grade of fuel do you have to use with that combination?

John, I use 93 Amoco white gas, but it runs ping free on 87 in a pinch.
Johndoe, I used a crank pulley from a CVCC (smaller diameter) and had a custom 4" pulley made for the alternator.
