Anyone heard about an EN4 motor? What did they come out in and what are their specs?

Never heard of an EN4.Did you see it yourself?Honda did make an ED4(76-79,1487,Civic Wagon)

No I haven't seen it myself, I was told about it by someone who had one in a 2nd gen civic with a low k import motor replacement that was very quick even as a stocky. It could just be that it was bigger capacity than the 1300 and was maybe an ED4 misread as an EN4.

It was definetley EN4,I was the person who Had it.It was rumoured to be a 1500 but looked like EN1,no support off head for Torque rod either,and it was very torquey and quik in stock form.

I have an EN4...the 4 is printed small behind EN, then the rest of the numbers! It's out of an 83 1300 "S" that I bought half a year ago. I'm rebuilding the engine now, and found the cam to be the same lift, yet lumpier, and thus longer duration. Sounds to me like maybe a RS-cam..?! The valves are also slightly different, though the same sizes as the EB3. This engine produced 70HP stock according to a book I read on it.

I think what you've got is an EN1 bored .040 over.Hence the 4 stamped over or near the 1.This is a common practice when an engine is over bored.I don't think Honda produced an EN4.

It was a 2 door "Sports" 1300..(The official papers said 1984, but it's the sec.gen, came in black or red, with striping on the side) I have the block right here so lemme check.... No it is not stamped over a one, and it does NOT look like it was stamped on afterwards, as there is plenty of room left for the 4. It goes EN 4-3001102, where the 4 is small, but between spaces. I can check the bores... they are exactly 72 mm. This is the first EN that I have looked at in detail. I bought it coming with the car so I had all the EN parts for brakes and engine. I am rebuilding this engine's head, which looks exactly like the EB, except it DOES have exhaust valve seals, and there's room for a tachometer. Also the smaller exhaust valves (same size as EB) are domed like the intake-valves...!? Now I have heard that the EB3 head is supposed to flow better, but the valve shape on the exhaust is the only difference I see! I'll have to check the ports, but they are the same diameters on the outside! Reason for not using my EB head with this block is the bearings for the cam which are worn on one side.. Also using the cam, I'll want to use the head it was always used to working with. It also came with a larger manifold on the exhaust. Don't know if this goes for all EN's but I'll have to make some pics of the thing and post them. It looks like a much better-flowing manifold...

Anyone know if a flat exhaust valve is better than a domed one?? My logic tells me a flat one is better as the air/fuel can more easily escape from underneath... A domed piston in my imagination will resist more to air/fuel trying to get out...!
Am I right? Or am I just rattling??
I want to know so I can grind the EB valves into the EN head, before I grind the old ones back in!
Any thought appreciated..
