I'm looking into purchasing a 1978 Civic with the 1.5L CVCC engine. From reading previous posts I understand that the CVCC engine is not desirable in terms of performance upgrades. If I were to get this car I would like to upgrade to a single or dual performance carb set up. I read that this is hard to do with the CVCC and the gains are not that great. What I would like to know is there a way to get rid of the CVCC system by changing the head to a non-CVCC head. Does such a head exist that will bolt on to the 1.5L block with no mods? If so, what year and model car has this head? Failing the head swap is it feasible to swap out the 1.5L engine and install the more performance friendly 1200? Any info would be appreciated.

Your best bet would proably be an early prelude or accord motor.
