hey there ..
i just finished swapping in an '83 civic 1.3 litre
..( for those of you who know the saga, you should've seen the bits in the old oil pan!! i'm thinking of preserving them in resin!)
i digress ..

everything went well .. had to swap the flywheel, modify one mount (upper one above the tranny) ..
i used the tighter ratio 5 speed, which just slipped into place ..

problem is, now it's sticky getting in and out of 1st and 3rd .. so i'm assuming linkage .. i know everything else is good ..
any suggestions would be helpful!

I just had that same problem doing a engine swap, come to find out I had bent the transaxle in the transmission. Found this out after swiching linkages.

Maybe he's talking about the rod on the tranny that attaches to the shift linkage?

Hey Mo,
if that is the problem, looks like a disassembly and repair. You'd be surprised how easy Honda gearboxes are to repair.

If it's a CVCC, Charles in Australia can help you out ;)
Make sure that is the problem before you go yanking it out.

It cost me getting a new 5 spd and pulling it out. Placed the new one in and it worked just fine. Took the tranny to the the tranny guy and he said that is what is was, off 5 degrees or more. What he told me was the transaxle was the stub comming out of the back of the tranny that connects to the linkage with that dowel pin. He was going to charge me $340 I got a new tranny at a wrecker for $35. Cleaned it up and plopped it in. No more problems. Soory for the delay, I have been searching day and night for a carb solution for my car.

Sash,
I have a adapter setup which was once sold by a couple different aftermarket fitters designed to mount a Weber 32/36DGV(or variant) to the stock Honda CVCC manifold...depending on which one you have, but I hesitate to let go of it till I have a Canadian head for my motor which will not need it. They could be made to work well, as they were designed to feed the CVCC prechamber as well as the primary and secondary ports.

john I would appreciate it, but dont want to put you out. I am trying all my efforts for the cheap route right now. this car is a runner, or to say a in between till I get my 1200 done. I would rather spend that kind of effort on the ground up rebuild, but if it comes to it I will have to do what I have to do.

Mo, if your still having the issues with the trans, have you tried making sure you did not overtighten the bolt/nut that goes through the shifter linkage on the shifter itself? If that is too tight, it will cause the situation you are referring to.

Take care
Shawn

Hmmmm, I'll take a look-see. I think I can dig that information up.
When are you going to bolt those babys on? I'm even getting excited. :)
One thing, you might have to get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Forgot to mention that when I saw you. You can get the generic inline ones for about $20.00 at any auto parts store. Because those are motocycle carbs, they need very little pressure. You might flood them with a stock pump.

Take care
Shawn

i was just about to slap it on this morning ..
came in to see if i could get any more information on it ..

if you have any diagrams that explains what goes where, that would be helpful .. i've figured most of it out .. except the two larger tubes on the back of the air box .. they have their own private chamber .. whats that for? ..
AND .. i have to figure out how i hook up the vaccuum for my electronic ignition bit ..
ya ya .. i'm so technical with my lingo ..
thanks shawn ..
