Hello all,
I have recently acquired a 77 civic that has had a fair amount done to it: Motor wise it has an upgraded carb(Weber I think), header, full exhaust, port-matched intake and exhaust.

The next evolutionary step would would be a cam I would think.

Any recommendations on types or sources?

I'm looking for something that will remain streetable but will give me a good boost throughout the rev range.

Any thoughts or comments would be very much welcome.

Cheers,
Andre

Japanese RS, Mugen R1, or WebCam's #68.

Sounds good to me,

Can anyone tell me where can I find any or all of these?
What are the pros and cons to each?

Am I likely to find them new or will I have to search high and low for them?

Andre

Finding an RS cam will be hard. It is basically a stock lift cam with more duration. Made 68 hp on the stock RS. It has power from idle to about 6500-7000 rpm. The Mugen R1 can be bought from Racecraft.(www.users.bigpond.com/Racecraft) I think they weld up and regrind your cam. I have never used this cam but it is supposed to be a really good grind. No idea about power. The Webcam can be bought from Webcaminc.com. They can provide a new cam or can regrind yours (makes the base circle smaller requiring lash caps). Power starts at about 3500 and pulls strongly to about 7000. Mine makes about 90-95 HP. Very lumpy idle.
I recently found Elgin cams has about 6 grinds available for 8 valve Hondas. Never tried them, but it might be worth a look.

There are two shops in the lower mainland(B.C.)that do cams, they are called Shadbolt cams and Colt cams. I'll check on specs for you...
