HI
I'm wondering if a vtec engine can utilise its vtec system with a carburetor,by this way we only need to buy the engine w/transmission only,no need to buy the whole front cut

You can run a carb set-up on the vtec motor and add a aftermarket switch to trigger the vtec..

Don't forget that when VTEC is activated, it needs a lot more fuel and air. Makes tuning a carb kinda hard to run both on and off the VTEC.

Hey,
Just to turn vtec on is very simple. On the back of the engine on the right hand side there is a solonoid. There is only one wire coming out of the solonoid. Hook this up to power and the solonoid will click. When it clicks, that meand you have vtec. If you have a 92-95 civic, no problems, the computer will adjust for the extra fuel. If not, get a fuel pressure regulator.
Then, game on!

Sorry, brain fade, it's going in an older Civic, isn't it. No, I wouldn't suggest carbs for vtec. Try the d16 from an '88-'89 Civic Si or CRX Si. Very responsive to upgrades, and TVM sells manifolds for quad venturi carbs. Next best thing to vtec for your car, IMO
