HI
I'd swapped my engine recently with a d15b non vtec,I'm planning to swap it with a d15b vtec, coz my friend using a 5th gen civic is planning to upgrade his engine to b16a.My friend offer it to me cheaply(the d15b vtec),is the mount the same between a non vtec version and vtec version for d15b since the code is the same i assumed the mount also the same.

Hey,
If the engine is a d15b it is NOT a vtec engine. Only the D16 engines in the 5th gen Si civics are vtec. These have the plugs at the front of the valve cover instead of the back. If you don't want to yank the whole engine, you can just plop the vtec head on the d15 engine. Actually raises your compression and the d15 has a better rod/stroke ratio.
Both the d15 and the d16 have the same mounts.

The vx model comes with a 1.5 liter vtec motor also. So it could be that hatch.

Hey,
You're right. Is the block designation d15b though? The VX had an engine that was prety weak though. 90hp if I'm not mistaken. You're actually better off to go with the d15b7 from the DX. That is something I thought I would never say. What a dog. The crank is also fairly weak when compared to the others n the Honda family. Do it right the first time, go with the d16y8 1.6L vtec.
