My brother is in the middle of converting it a N600 to a n600 powered by an 100hp EB engine...
No chance of getting a vtec or zc motor in there.. theres just no room...
Having said all that you can easily swap over the civic hubs and brakes increasing the braking quite substantially...
The N600 only weigh 500kg... thats 200kg less than the civic and when you bolts in a 100hp to it you quickly find that power to weight ratio is somewhat satifying... for a little while anyways

I just got involved in the Formula team at my University. Last year's car has a 600cc kawasaki street bike engine with turbo. Our team leader estimated it to be about 200 ponies if we didn't have to pull through a restrictor plate (19mm). Just another idea for ya.... But it runs on methanol too. It'd still be a deadly quick car... and still a 600.

Hey Jacob, I just joined my schools formula team. Just got back from the meeting five minutes ago. Go to www.formulasae.com and prepare to drool. Make sure you check out the engine! Maybe I'll see you in Detroit this spring.

Sounds sweet, what school are you @? I'm at OSU, we didn't get to dyno our car last year because they'd already dismantled it before we had a chance, but according to our team members it would have been more powerful than any of the cars that dyno'd. Should be sweet. We've got 4 of our past year's cars laying around, so I'm familiar with the setup.
