Anyone know of a brand of quality aftermarket valve stem seals for an EB1 head that are cheaper than Honda parts in Australia?
Also can intake seals be used for the exhaust valves as well?

yes

I do not think it is a good idea to exchange the valve seals. Read my story just a week ago: I just burned the exhaust valve (#3)and wanted to donate my car (83 civic cvcc,1.5 litter, 200k miles mostly local, very impressive!). I just curiously removed the head and looked at inside. Everything looked good except that valve. No steps on the cylinder walls ( this indicated no wear, pistons still tightly fit, I could not believe it, Honda designed so well). I decided to replace 4 exhaust valves and did valve clapping myself. Also new timing belt, valve seals, gaskets, cam and crankshaft seals. The cost is $125 total. My car now is running so well except in the morning when I first started, it put out 30 seconds smoke intermittently,(oil burning definitely)until engine almost warm up. What is going on? I already put in new viton seals (Fel-Pro parts). Here might be a reason: In the exhaust valve seals package they mistakenly put in an intake valve seal (white ring) instead of black rings for exhaust. I was lazy to go back to the store to exchange a new set and thought that it would be OK to use intake valve seals for exhaust. Exhaust seals are designed differently (higher temp and different pressure/vacuum due to exhaust instead of intake (fully vacuum (suction)). I don't know, may be I just accidently tear one of the seals while installing them. Now I have to find out. I will drive it for a while so I know which cylinder is that by looking the sparkplugs. The valve burn is probably because of me. I did not fix the EGR passage (clog up 5 years ago)which helps to reduce combustion chamber temp. The vacuum advance unit was broken few years ago so I set the timing always advance. Then at high speed 2000 RPM or more the engine is to much advance due to the additional centrifugal advance. This will cause the engine to run hotter. Also 4 years ago my radiator leaked and I did not think my civic will last that long. Without hesitation I used "stop leak stuff" (bad stuff for the engine cooling jacket). I found out the cooling passages around the exhaust valves get clog up by that stuff (green silica plus white alumina powder). Not enough cooling around those poor exhaust valves (local hot spots). I used steel wire to poke and clean out those passages. I could not clear the EGR passage and end up drilling another hole for it ( this will make my car pass emission easily due to lower NOx). My car is running well now except I have to investigate the smoky thing. Any ideas please let me know. Sorry for my spelling I am so busy and just lazy to pick up a dictionary.
