My question relates to my 1979 1500 CVCC upgrade to a 1751 EK1. I understand allot has been written in the archives on this subject, which I have read. The question I have is do you need to use the air suction tube that is connected between the exhaust manifold and the intake manifold. How do you get around this? Also, I have an extra intake manifold from ny car (ED3). Would this work in conjunction with the EK1 exhaust manifold? This would be one way to get away from the vacume hose nightmare of the the accord. The vacume hose set up on my 79 CVCC is allot less hoses. Keep in mind, I am in Cal so I need to pass smog. Thanks for all the help.

The civic manifold will bolt on, but the primaries are alittle smaller. What happened to the stock 1500 manifold/carb? I'd just use them (your car is probably older than the smog police that are checking, so they don't know what the heck they're looking at anyhow!).. And the pipe or tube is the warm air duct from the exhaust manifold. I wouldn't worry about it, especialy in CA. But do check the vacume operated 'flapper' (OK i forgot what it's called) that is in the neck of the aircleaner. If you disconect the 'tube' make sure that flapper stays open for fresh air to come in

Thanks for the reply errol. After looking at the schmematic drawings of the 83 Intake/Exhaust manifold, I noticed they had allot of hoses and adapters connected to them. They have a air suction tube, EGR valve pipe, and a coouple of thermovalves (something like that I don't have the manual here with me). The exhaust manifold has the connection for the air tube, egr pipe, and also has oxygen sensor. I have the stock 1500 carb and manifold. I just happened to also have an extra intake manifold. My concern was even if the intake manifold was able to bolt up to the EK1 head, would the exhaust manifold from the EK1 bolt up underneath the intake? The stock 1500 would not work because it is a 2 port siamese configuration. I am working with QuickRick to get a EL1 Canadian head with intake, exhaust and carb that will bolt up to the 82-83 series EK1's. Using the stock 1500 carb and insulator, allows me to use the existing stock vacume setup. Once again the 83 EK1 carb and manifold have a vacume hose nightmare. Any recommendations are appreciated.

I'll have an extra 81 accord manifold but it won't be for a couple of weeks til i strip it. A exhaust manifold from a 80-83 civic will bolt to a 1751 just fine. But you need the 3-bolt downpipe/flexjoint to go with it. But be carefull, some of the bolt patterns were slightly different on the flange that mounts to the exhaust manifold (at least in the US)

I am having a big carb problem. I placed the EK1 in the 79 CVCC civic. I tried the 1200 keihin carb...didn't work. I had the keihin 3 barrel on there and it worked great until a solenoid blew. Today I tried a keihin of a 81 prelude due to it had a EK1 motor under it originally. This carb had a bunch of junk on the back side and seem to leak gas from a spot on the carb. Errol is helping me replace the solenoid, but does anyone know how to hook up this 81 keihin. It seems to have a electronic choke, it also seem to have a gas intake port on the back side. I am running out of ideas and patience very quickly...can someone help.
