so i went to my local junkyard today looking for a small windshield washer resevior to put in the cowl space with no luck but low and behold, right before my very eyes on the last honda in the yard is a weber 32/36.
so i take it off, giggling the whole time and i get a set of mallory 8mm spark plug wires while im at it, all good condition.
the kicker is as im walking to the checkout i stop by the wall with all the prices and i lose it, -2 barrell carbs--$14, plug wires--$.49 cents...
i laughed all the way to my car and sped away before they knew what happened.
i know it isnt rare to find gold like this, but it feels good when it does.

I LOVE IT!!
I found a rare black Tonneau cover for a hatchback, (the one with the little snaps along the back) at the junkyard...
I won't say how little I paid!

I was looking at all the civics in my local junkyard for a good lower control arm one day and I spoted a new civic that wasnt there before so I went to scope it out to see what it had... lokked in the interior for stock tach but it didnt have it, the rims were stock steelies nothing interesting, the i opened the hood and just about fainted when i seen a header bolted on with 2" pipe all the way back to a turbo muffler I asked the guy at the front desk he goes " i dont know whats a civic exhaust worth like 50 bux" So i was like sweeet but i didnt show it i just gave him the 50 bux took the header and exhaust out of the car shoved it in my buddys car and took off.

My 77 CVCC (hondamatic) has the hatch tonneau as well, also has rear bumper overrider, factory mats, mud flaps, overhead console, underdash console, AC, 13" wheels with trim rings, passenger side mirror, day/night interior mirror... total luxo-ride. The tonneau cover is not in the options brochure I have. I wonder if they were a dealer installed item?

Hey guys,
I've had one of those for years...they never seem to fit right though...but i've held on to mine to use as a pattern to make one big enough to counter the normal shrinkage that takes place in the vinyl. I also bought one of those brand new as an option on the 1975 CVCC 5-sp when purchased new. that car stickered for 3650.00US. You have to have the snap strips that screw to the interior, or make some that will work.

My car is fitted with a piece of plywood with a very good quality pad and vinyl covering. It looks factory and I have my Jennson 2000 cylindrical speakers mounted on it. It looks great and keeps the goodies/junk out of site.

Here is a lucky son of a gun story. This was told to me by an antique car colector in Ontario Candada. Who knows if it is true or not but the guy seemed like he was not full of crap. Anyway this is how the story goes... A buddy of his was reading in the local sales paper called the buy and sell and he sees an ad for a "1963 Chevrolet for sale Asking $2000.00 or best offer." The buddy is kind of curious as to what this Chevrolet is as it does not say so he calls the number and an elderly woman answeres the phone. She tells him that she is getting up in her years and can't manage the amount of work that comes with owning a home so she is going to sell her house and move into and seniors home. She tells how her husband had passed away quite a few years back and the car was his. The buddy asks what kind of Chevy is it and she does not know only that is is a Chevrolet and that she could not bare to sell it for years as it was her husbands baby. She does know that it is a 2 door and was a thrill to ride in. Well the buddy is just dying of curiosity and gets the details on where she lives and asks if he could come over and look at it. She says sure. The buddy makes his way over to the womans place and knocks on the door. The little lady invites him in for a cup of coffee and seems to be dying to have some company. She tells him that they never had children and so on and so on. The buddy is being polite as posible and finaly gets her to take him out to the garage to show him the car. She opens the door and flips on the light. He can barely contain himself. Before him he sees a car coverd with some old blankets and pieces of carpet. It has 3 flat tires. On top of the car are some boxes of odds and ends but he can clearly make see what it is. He walks around the car and finds it in realy quite good condition. She is saying how it would be nice to have it gone over by a mechanic and get it running again. He agrees and also agrees to give her what she is asking for the car. Within an hour he has a fella come with a flat bed tow truck and haul his just purchased 1963 split window Chevrolet Corvette home. The lady is happy as she got it "out of her way" and what she wanted for it and that buddy must have had horse shoes up his butt! Apparently the car had a popped frost plug and some slight scratches on the side from the wheelbarrow at one time. I think I would have felt guilty getting that one but wow what a find.

Here's an interesting story that happened to me a couple years ago.... i was in a little town near Spokane, WA, (the alternator in my buddies truck blew) and we stopped at the local diner to see if where there was a shop that could repair the alternator. the little old lady behind the counter told us there was one up the road and so we dropped the truck at the shop and walked back to the diner for breakfast. as we had breakfast we struck up a conversation with the little old lady and she commented "Your from Canada EH!" we had a few hours to kill so we asked her where the local antique stores were (because Twyla collects Coca Cola stuff) when we asked the lady her eyes lit up and she ran to the back and she emerged with a Coca Cola Xmas display card and gave it to me (she wouldn't take the money i offered her for it) then she said that the antique stores were quite a ways away and she offered us the use of her car but we refused but the lady insisted and put the car keys in my hand. she told us to go have fun we walked out the back door and there standing in front of us was a lime green AAR Cuda complete with hockey stick striping and a 426 Hemi!!!!!! i went back and gave her the keys back and thanked her very much for the offer. (no i didn't take the car out for a test drive even though i would have loved to) it's amazing how generous some people are

This is what that cover looked like before I gutted the interior to make room for a roll bar.

Haha, Spokane is right near my home turf!
I'm told there are several hemi cars lurking around. Do you remeber which diner it was? Maybe she doesn't know how much it's worth... No I'd never do that to a nice old lady.

ok... here's one for ya

I live in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. during the worst winter months, on some days, when you take a deep breath, the inside of your nose will freeze shut !!! AND YES we use salt on the road to get rid of ice. SO... civics didnt last too long.

Anyway, I asked the guy at the local wrecker's if they had seen ANY 1973 to 1979 Honda Civics come into the yard inthe last few months or even years.

All the staff behind the counter laughed .

The guy I asked told me that they had filled the area with topsoil where all THOSE civics were located, back in the late 1980's. They had a bulldozer drive over the area to crush them first, before they filled it in. They haven't seen any since.

so consider yourself lucky if you have a junkyard near you that has even seen one, let alone stored one.!!!

p.s. my friend who works at a Honda dealership did manage to hear about a junkyard that had a first gen. civic in the yard, a 1976 wagon. There was nothing left of it except the taillights AND the worst part was that there was a 25 foot tree growing through the middle of the car !!!! YES it went through it.

I never really knew what the rear cover looked like. I guess that I should look through some old boxes of freebees.

Hey Justin, I just read the story from Spokane. Thanks for the memories, that was a fun trip. We need to do something like that again and soon....
Kelowna should be a blast this year on the May long-weekend.
