I am trying to to put an 83 civic transmission on a 74 engine and now that it's in, the cluch lever on the transmission moves for around 2 inches before it has any resistance and then it stops completely. it feels like I forgot the throwout bearing completely but I know I didn't. the thing Im wondering is if I'm suppossed to use the throwout bearing for the 74 transmission along with the cluch and pressure plate, or some combination of the three. I'm pretty confused cause from what I've read on here it's pretty much a direct bolt on.

You should be using the EN1 throwout bearing, which is probably the same anyway. EB clutch and flywheel should work.

Are you using a genuine Honda clutch disc? I had this problem once with a cheap brand clutch it was too thick I have only used Honda discs since then have never had to repeat that experience of pulling the tranny twice.
